Add a guy like Zakreski who looks like a typical Sioux guy (grit, skill) plus can score...looks to be a very good incoming FR class, for sure. Wonder if we'll see a goalie tandem situation or if Homer will be the guy? 1

Wonder if we'll see a goalie tandem situation or if Homer will be the guy? My inebriated scouting takes on Zakreski may be painting the wrong picture; he's probably got a learning curve as the game speeds up. No historical perspective going from MJ to NCAA, only the other way, which sees people's stats explode (Tambo comes to mind). But full 60, leadership by example, finishing checks, and responsible play (hasn't taken a penalty in the dozen or so games I've had an eye on him) will be hallmarks.

From this, I think he'll fit in just fine. Looking at what this team has right now for a lineup. I don't think UND is going to blow anybody out with scoring, for sure. But the groundwork is there for a very solid team that relies on great defense/goaltending and hopefully transitions quicker to get the forwards some chances. 1

And once they become upperclassmen, hopefully they can dominate the league. 1

Very exciting puzzle pieces just the same! Now I’m hoping Dane can get them to jell with some fire in their bellies. If this incoming squad plays like that, I will be happy to go watch them show off their skills! 1

Sodbuster Posted April 26 Posted April 26 Just wondering.......did Rickwood commit to UND without visiting the Ralph first?

brianvf Posted April 26 Posted April 26 Nice comeback win for the ND boys. In the committed recruits thread…you think we’ll flip Mattern from ASU?

Wonder also what this ends up meaning for Heil. Is he going to be interested in coming in only a year behind this guy? He had his chances. Neither of our goalies exactly jumped out or stole any games. I'm hardly going to feel bad for Hobie ... sucks for him, but if you want the job ... earn it.
AlphaMikeFoxtrot Posted April 28 Posted April 28 Has an assist tonight as well. Going to OT right now against Spokane. Too bad Catton signed before the change, he's legit. 1
mygarske Posted April 29 Posted April 29 Posted this in the 2025-26 team thread too. First Team All-USHL announced. https://ushl.com/news/2025/4/29/general-league-announces-all-ushl-teams.aspx Laurila & Zellers on the first team. Spunar named to Third Team. Interesting that Lee & Martino also on First Team. Both thought of as good on the offensive side, but do not have good 200 ft. game. Gunderson, tied or traded with Zellers for the league lead for most of the season, was named to the Third Team. Hopefully this bodes well for Laurila & Zellers to be named DPOY & POY tomorrow. 3
