former players

Just got my copy of NHL 11 with Toews on the cover. When I saw the cover art for the game online a couple months ago, it didn't hit home like it did when I was holding the game in my hands.

To me, having a former Sioux on the cover of an NHL game ranks up there with having one win the Stanley Cup.

I found a nice review of NHL 2011 here. :D

Of course they play the national anthem (photo 6)

And... Captain Serious and the Blackhawks begin their defense of The Cup.

Went to Avs/Blues game last night and watched Oshie and Porter play.

Porter was pretty unnoticeable for the most part (which can be both good and bad). He got railed early in the 2nd and was down on the ice for quite awhile, but was back by the end of the 2nd.

Oshie's goal was a sniper shot on the PP. He was one of the most effective players on the ice - causing quite a few turnovers and drawing several penalties. Hopefully this is his year.

Vande Velde one of a few battling for last spots on Edmonton roster.

Whether or not Vande makes it this year, I think he'll get his chance. He's a well-rounded player; strong with the puck, not a flashy scorer but can bury it when his opportunities are there, wins faceoffs, and can definitely hold his own defensively.

Chris craking the lineup in his first year would be stellar.
