He may have appeared to be a step slow...however, he's a natural goal scorer so it's hard to overlook that.

Plus he is a very effective penalty killer.  You win tournaments like that with great special teams.  You need guys that are willing to accept and fill a role. It says a lot that he was in the lineup for the big game and Kyle Connor was not.

Connor and USA Hockey have a tenuous relationship. No NTDP or WJC. One WC appearance and none since starting his pro career despite Winnipeg often hitting the links early.

Brock goes to the WC a lot and has lit it up a few times. Loves putting on the USA sweater and USA Hockey knows it.

D-Boss said something along the lines of people who want to play in 4 Nations and the Olympics should play in the WC if their team is eliminated.

Kleven got worked by Lowry last night after laying the kind of hit that wasn't called in the N, but would have gotten him ejected in the NCHC.

Clean hit, followed by a fight

Jonathan Toews is back on the ice after missing nearly two years

“I’m not satisfied the way things ended in Chicago. It’s not about proving anything. It’s just that there’s something left in the tank and I want to explore that. I want to go have fun, have a blast, play with passion. But at the same time, I still have some high-level hockey left. I want to be able to step away from the game having said that I’ve given it my all. And I still think there’s something left to give. Everyone just assumed I was retired, but I think in my mind, I wasn’t too sure for a long time. I just needed to not think about it, to just give myself time and space. … Now I’m really missing hockey, and I think that’s the biggest sign. I really miss the game and feel I have a whole different perspective and a new lease on things.”

I'm thinking baby steps for now. Heck it's been 2 years. I'm pulling for him

I guess Blake made the right call to go pro.  That he's cemented a top six spot and PP1 on one of the best teams in the league is amazing.  And to do it in Carolina, where they expect a commitment to defense.

When you think of where he was as a freshman, turning the puck over at the offensive blue line with no one behind him, and how prepared he was for pro hockey just one season later, well, I know we're supposed to hate the coaches now, but they obviously helped prepare him well for the next level.

Wasn't it a popular view here to bench him?  But the coaches played the hell out of him instead, those idiots.

First to admit my assertation that he was AHL at best was horrendously wrong.

Then why did Bubs not play Boisvert that way?   Give him a long leash and let him go?   Nope saddled him with a lot of ineffective linemates.  2nd pp group. Large stretches in games not on the ice.    Or with Blake was Dad in Bubs ear

I was concerned he would get lost in the shuffle in the AHL and get pushed around by bigger, older players.

I stand corrected. Well done Mr. Blake.
