No Gopher player has ever started a fight with an opposing player or said anything to them that is mean spirited. No Gopher fan has ever used their middle finger during any gopher game in the history of Minnesota hockey!! COME ON!!! Your argument is pathetic. Coaches, players, and fans from every fan base of every sports team EVER have a percentage of them that are classless. Quit acting like the Gophers are the exception.

You're right. The courts were the only entity with the power to punish players. Coaches, athletic directors, presidents, etc. can't do anything!! I don't even want to get this going again. It's only a matter of time before another incident comes up and we can do this all over again!!

Why would a kid that has NHL potential choose to go to a school based on Television exposure? Any kid that is going to be a great player is drafted before they even come to college. It's not like going to a school that is going to play on national television is going to improve their stock with the NHL team that drafted them. Theses kids choose a school based on the coaches and how well they can develop for the next level. Sure there are some kids that will probably never play in the NHL and want to go to a place where they can be on TV. But when talking about the elite hockey players in the country....the ones that UND has successfully recruited....want to go to a place where they can develop their skill and is the right fit for them that can prepare them to eventually play at the NHL. When you look it at that way...UND definitely has a great reputation for doing just that. that is going to get the top players in the country to play here. Not having 4 or 5 or their games on NBC Sports.

Would our coaches/players/fans like to have the on the field successes that NDSU football/basketball has had in the last 5 years...of course. Winning National Championships in football, winning conference titles, and making the tournament is basketball should be our goal every year. That's not jealousy. That's what every school should try to do. But would I want the players at UND to be able to get away with a slap on the wrist to certain players when they break the law just for the benefit of the success of the team.... ABSOLUTELY NOT!!

Just saying that's a lot of college hockey teams and fan bases in a specific area of the country. That's all.

Exactly my point. There are Gopher fans that won't make the trip to Detroit on odd years and will have the option to watch live college hockey. Who do you think they are going to choose....Lake Superior State v. Ferris State or UND v. Denver.

If you look at a map of where all the WCHA schools are (excuding the AK schools) Having the tournament in Milwaukee or Green Bay makes the most sense because it would be very centrally located for all the non-Alaska schools. Making it 5 hours closer for the MI schools will deffinitely help in attendance.

With 7 of the 9 schools coming from either Michigan or Alaska, I don't see the attendance even close to half of what the Final 5 gets now. Unless Mankato and Bemidji plan on bringing thousands of fans there...if they make it. I get that the X wants to be loyal to a league that they have had a great relationship in the past, but I don't see how they can be profitable to have a tournament that will probably average 20,000 for the entire weekend!! Unless they are thinking there will be a lot of Minnesota hockey fans that don't ant to make the trip to Detroit and just want to watch college hockey live! I guess we will have to wait ans see!!

NDSU is really good. They won the Championship. they could beat some FBS teams. End of discussion. FCS playoffs are over. And so should this thread. Thanks you and goodnight!!

I don't know how the WCHA can justify having the Final 5 at the X. In order I think the majority of the fans at the Final 5 are Minnesota, North Dakota, St Cloud, Duluth, and Wisconsin. All teams that will be gone from the league next year. The closest team left in the league is Mankato! I guess I could be wrong, but I don't see the X filling more than the lower bowl for their tournament. While it may host the Final 5 in 2015, I don't see it being there again. Where is the Final 5 next year gonna be? Anyone know?

Any word if we are gonna sport some retro throwback (non native american...obviously) jersey for our outdoor game in Omaha? Would be sweet to see something new for that game!!

Isn't this something that is controlled by the conference a team plays in? My point being...if it is, can the NCHC look into doing this? Would make our league very unique and seperate it from other conferences in the country!!

Time to consider the option of rotating the location site. BTHC has the X for their tournament in 2014 and 2016. I say we need to move the NCHC tournament to the X in 2015 and 2017 and choose a different location for the even years. The Target Center decision was selected based on the fact that these renovations would be done. I wonder if the NCHC has the option to back out if these renovations don't take place. I sure hope so. Even years at the X, odd years somewhere else like Omaha or Denver. If you are going to have a college hockey conference that is supposed to be first rate, you can't have the tournament in a building that is 2nd rate at best!!

The FBS playoffs won't be legit until it is at least an 8 team playoff. All they are going to do with a 4 team playoff is add an extra game. Teams are still going to have over a month off between their conference Championships and the semifinal game. It will be better, but far from what it should be. Until then we will have to settle for the Dr Pepper Championship they have now!!

In all sports, scholarships are only given to schools that are D1 and D2 only. So schools that play D3 hockey don't have to award any. Making it more affordable for schools to have hockey without committing a huge portion of their athletic budget to do so.

Saying that the BTHC will do better thatn the NCHC in recruiting just because of their name is like saying the SEC will do better in recruiting in basketball than the ACC because of their name, and success in football. Sure from the non hockey fan, the Big 10 hockey conference sounds pretty cool. But to the educated player that actually has researched programs and their history, and seen the seccess at each school, they will see there is more to college hockey than the Big 10.

So what do you suggest that rename Division 1 Football Championship Subdivision too? You can't call it D2 because that would put teams like UCONN, Villanova, NDSU, UND, Montana, etc in the same level as Augustana, Sioux Falls, and Minot State. You can't do that. So since you are so smart and have all the answers...what do you suggest they do??!!
