I wish the student section could get back to the days of when the Alerus first opened. Those first couple of years were unbelievable!! A lot of it could be attributed to team success I suppose, but still would be nice to get that type of excitement about football around here. One tradition that should be at every school is supporting your athletic teams, especially football. It's the fall and the students are all back. They should be excited to watch some UND sports. Getting back to traditions, standing up and yelling on third down has been one of the ones that has been around for awhile. I am hoping that an increase in students at the game will create more traditions. First step, getting students to show up.

Cue the "Football attendance" thread to start up again and how we can increase attendancethis season!!!

Here's my idea. Play the school song right after we score the goal. Drop the puck at center ice and after the next stoppage of play, crank up the Chelsea Dagger. At the next stoppage of play, Looker can do the "Here's your University of North Dakota scoooooooooring!" This way lets you celebrate the goal 3 times and keeps the momentum going after each goal.

Alex emailed me back on Monday saying he put me on the list...so I may be #3 or better!!

There is this song named "Stand Up and Cheer" that would be great for after we score a goal. I think we may have used it before!!

OK, that is what I thought. I talked to Alex Kroke at UND who is handling the season tailgate spots. He said that renewel from last years goes till the end of July and new season passes will be available August 1st. For $2.14 more a game to have a tailgate spot (that is if you only get one spot) that is a great deal.

Speaking of tailgating, Reserved tailgate spots are on $50. I haven't gotten one in the past, but I think we are gettting one this year!! Someone correct me if I am wrong, but if you have a tailgate spot, you don't have to pay the $5 parking fee per game right? That would make sense. If that is the case, at $5/game, it only cost $15 for a reserved tailgate spot. That is a hell of a deal. Hopefully people will take advantage of that. Having 4 home games before October will deffinitely increase our tailgating. Plus, in those first games we have SD State, Montana, and Montana St. Great opponents mixed with great weather and hopefully a great UND football team equal a frickin awesome time!! Is it time for kickoff yet? Getting excited!!

The Superiority complex runs deep with this one. Everything at NDSU, Fargo, Cass county, etc. is superior to anything else in the state, especially UND and Grand Forks. Looking forward to another fun and exciting season in Sec 215!! 4 homes games before October...should be great weather for tailgating early on!! Can't wait!!

I think we need to be more concerned about the product on the field than the actual field itself.

I wonder if they are going with the current trend of letting schools incorporate their own colors into the logo. Might be the case here!

The Alurus got a mulligan on the turf and they still shanked it in the woods. I will give them some credit for the black end zones and the better big sky logos. I am not going to lose sleep over the midfield logo, but definitely unfortunate.

Moving the Alerus Center logos to where they have them on that fiels would make a helk of lot more sense. Stupid to have the Alurus logo right at midfield. I really hope that the powers that be at the Alerus Center heard enough grumblings from fans that they will use this mulligan and do the field right (with the ND logo in the middle)

Within the last two weeks, UND has signed contracts to play Utah and Washington, and NDSU has signed to play Ferris State!! You really can't make this up!!

D2 schools are now FCS counters?? Since when? It certainly must have changes recently.

You are quick to say that people need to not jump to conclusions and wait for the facts to come out before passing judgement. Well that goes both ways. You can't assume it was self defense, or assume that it was just one punch. Don't get mad at people for coming up with their own conclusions about what happened when you are doing the same thing. The facts will come out soon and we will all know.

NDSU has handed out its punishment for Travis Beck and he will be suspended for all games in June and July for the 2013 season!

So does this mean that The Alerus Center along with UND can fix their mistake and put the interlocking ND at midfield?!!

NDSU is clearly the better team right now. They have been for at least 10 years. No one is debating that. This debate is not about who has a better team right now. NDSU will win that argument every time. The question is whether they should schedule a game against each other. Now you can go back and forth about who benefits from the game more. But the question is should they resume the series. It all comes down to this. NDSU has more to lose in this game than UND. In NDSU presidents/AD's/fans/players/coaches/etc. , they believe that they are the far superior team. I don't blame them. They are the two time defending champion and have beaten several FBS team over the years. They are hot!! If they played the game, 9 times out of 10, NDSU would win. But what if the next time is that one time that UND wins? Imagine how that would affect the president/AD/Fans/players/coaches/etc at NDSU? Not saying it would take away all they have accomplished the last decade, but it would be a monumental blow to the program. Gene Taylor does not want this to happen. He is not scheduling the game because doesn't think that NDSU can beat UND. He is not scheduling the game because there is that chance that UND could beat NDSU. And that is the last thing that they want. If they schedule the game, there is a chance UND wins. If they don't schedule the game, there is a zero percent chance they lose. And Taylor would have the 0% chance they lose than even a 1%.
