  1. I love how Virg can always take a shot at NDSU in every article he writes: "And, like Lucia at Minnesota in hockey, you can point at the finger directly at NDSU athletics director Gene Taylor for his dawdling efforts to restart the football rivalry." Love it!! I am sure Bison fans will love that!!
  2. Of topic a bit....but why can't the UND athletic department have nice tickets like these??!! I know they have nice colored tickets for NDSU football games. I realize that the Athletic Department probably wants to save a couple bucks...but seems like a program of our size and notoriety should step it up in regards to tickets. Anyway, not loosing sleep over it. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. Just sayin.
  3. Your screen name sure fits you perfectly!!
  4. Yeah, I guess the fact that Minnesota will play Notre Dame for the next 4 years....and Lucia's kid just happens to be playing for Notre Dame for the next four years is just a coincidence!! It's not like Lucia said that he wants to continue the rivalry and play UND every year and when the schedule came out he was disappointed. He said that he does not want to play UND because it is not a "healty rivalry" and what do you know....they aren't on the schedule!! Belivee it or not, coaches have a greater say in who they play than you think.
  5. That will never happen. Don't have the exact numbers in front of me, But I believe that if you for a new conference, there is no automatic qualifier for football for like 5 years and no AQ for basketball for at least 10 years....maybe more. Not sure about other sports...but I am sure it is similar. While I would love to see those schools all in the same conference, I don't see AD's and Presidents at these schools putting their atheltic programs through that.
  6. Ohio State is averaging just over 3000 and Penn State is barely above 1000 this year. SO while they have huge fan bases...they are light years from being the most popular program at their school. In Minnesota, Michigan, MSU, etc...hockey is not the most popular sport either. At pretty much all the Big 10 schools, hockey is the 3rd most popular sport at the school behind basketball and football. At the NCHC schools, hockey is the most popular sport at the school. Don't think that the NCHC is not going to use that in their recruiting. Hey, do you want to play for us here in Denver? We get to play in a packed stadium at home...then on the road, play infront of 12000 people in Grand Forks, and 7000 psople in Duluthe, etc. Alot beter than...Hey you want to come play for Michigan State. Yes you can play the Gophers and Michigan....but guess what...you get to play in front of 1000 people at Penn state and an arena that is not even a quarter full in Columbus. My point being that yes these schools have large fanbases, but that does not mean that their college hockey fanbases are big as well.
  7. NDSU's new football slogan: Anyone, Anywhere, Anytime (Except UND)
  8. Ryan Chappell.........oh wait......nevermind. Could have been one of the best players we ever had. He is dumb as a rock, so does that make him eligible to be carved in a mountain???!
  9. You are right. No Gopher fan has ever said anything rude or derogatory towards any opposing fans or players. No Gopher player has ever started a fight with an opposing player or said anything to them that is mean spirited. No Gopher fan has ever used their middle finger during any gopher game in the history of Minnesota hockey!! COME ON!!! Your argument is pathetic. Coaches, players, and fans from every fan base of every sports team EVER have a percentage of them that are classless. Quit acting like the Gophers are the exception.
  10. OK, the playoffs are over....this thread has moved to an NDSU player suspension thread....It's time to move on....PLEASE stop responding and let this thread die. Bison06 is not going to change his mind.
  11. Breaking News....NBC broadcast budget.....just a couple bucks more than Midco!!!
  12. You're right. The courts were the only entity with the power to punish players. Coaches, athletic directors, presidents, etc. can't do anything!! I don't even want to get this going again. It's only a matter of time before another incident comes up and we can do this all over again!!
  13. Why would a kid that has NHL potential choose to go to a school based on Television exposure? Any kid that is going to be a great player is drafted before they even come to college. It's not like going to a school that is going to play on national television is going to improve their stock with the NHL team that drafted them. Theses kids choose a school based on the coaches and how well they can develop for the next level. Sure there are some kids that will probably never play in the NHL and want to go to a place where they can be on TV. But when talking about the elite hockey players in the country....the ones that UND has successfully recruited....want to go to a place where they can develop their skill and is the right fit for them that can prepare them to eventually play at the NHL. When you look it at that way...UND definitely has a great reputation for doing just that. that is going to get the top players in the country to play here. Not having 4 or 5 or their games on NBC Sports.
  14. Would our coaches/players/fans like to have the on the field successes that NDSU football/basketball has had in the last 5 years...of course. Winning National Championships in football, winning conference titles, and making the tournament is basketball should be our goal every year. That's not jealousy. That's what every school should try to do. But would I want the players at UND to be able to get away with a slap on the wrist to certain players when they break the law just for the benefit of the success of the team.... ABSOLUTELY NOT!!
  15. Just saying that's a lot of college hockey teams and fan bases in a specific area of the country. That's all.
  16. How great is it gonna be in 2014 in Minneapolis/St Paul with 2 conference tournaments going on!! 10 schools fanbases overtaking the Twin Cities. Holy hockey hotbed Batman!!
  17. Exactly my point. There are Gopher fans that won't make the trip to Detroit on odd years and will have the option to watch live college hockey. Who do you think they are going to choose....Lake Superior State v. Ferris State or UND v. Denver.
  18. If you look at a map of where all the WCHA schools are (excuding the AK schools) Having the tournament in Milwaukee or Green Bay makes the most sense because it would be very centrally located for all the non-Alaska schools. Making it 5 hours closer for the MI schools will deffinitely help in attendance.
  19. With 7 of the 9 schools coming from either Michigan or Alaska, I don't see the attendance even close to half of what the Final 5 gets now. Unless Mankato and Bemidji plan on bringing thousands of fans there...if they make it. I get that the X wants to be loyal to a league that they have had a great relationship in the past, but I don't see how they can be profitable to have a tournament that will probably average 20,000 for the entire weekend!! Unless they are thinking there will be a lot of Minnesota hockey fans that don't ant to make the trip to Detroit and just want to watch college hockey live! I guess we will have to wait ans see!!
  20. NDSU is really good. They won the Championship. they could beat some FBS teams. End of discussion. FCS playoffs are over. And so should this thread. Thanks you and goodnight!!
  21. I don't know how the WCHA can justify having the Final 5 at the X. In order I think the majority of the fans at the Final 5 are Minnesota, North Dakota, St Cloud, Duluth, and Wisconsin. All teams that will be gone from the league next year. The closest team left in the league is Mankato! I guess I could be wrong, but I don't see the X filling more than the lower bowl for their tournament. While it may host the Final 5 in 2015, I don't see it being there again. Where is the Final 5 next year gonna be? Anyone know?
  22. Any word if we are gonna sport some retro throwback (non native american...obviously) jersey for our outdoor game in Omaha? Would be sweet to see something new for that game!!
  23. Didn't see that. Ok...well I guess we all have to hope that the Target Center gets its renovation!!
  24. Fixed your post!
  25. Isn't this something that is controlled by the conference a team plays in? My point being...if it is, can the NCHC look into doing this? Would make our league very unique and seperate it from other conferences in the country!!
