  1. Having attended the game, I would guess that there were less than 200 UNd fans there. SO most were NDSU fans.
  2. If only there were a way to get that back? If only there were a sport that both schools play that they used to play against each other for over a century and haven't played in over a decade that people have been wanting to play ever since, that they could play each other in!!
  3. You do realize that the game this year was played on a Sunday afternoon when it was below zero outside? Also the game was televised!! Maybe that had a little to do with attendance...don't you think?? "Without football, rivalry is going away" - Question...do you want the rivalry to go away??? Why?? Why do some Bison fans not care about this century long rivalry?? Why this cocky "we don't need you anymore" attitude? Pathetic and childish if you ask me.
  4. Bison fans love to point out the number of National Championships they have won, the number of conference championships they won, how many FBS teams they have beat, and how many wins they have since they moved to D1. I will agree that all those statistics are very impressive. But when the topic of playing UND comes up, they act like all that will be stripped away if we happen to beat them. If UND were to beat NDSU, somehow they believe that all their recruits will call up Bohl and tell them they are going to UND. They say :"NDSU has everything to lose" in this game. Guess what: The only thing that you would lose would be the game. Sure you would hear plenty of UND fans talking about how they beat you. But in the grand scheme of things, would it drastically affect the program that bad? Would recruiting suffer that bad? Anything can happen on a football field. Teams can upset better teams. If we played this upcoming season, UND winning would deffinitely be an upset...this year. But is really the end of the world for the program? My point is the excuses for not wanting to play this game are getting pretty pathetic.
  5. What type of media BS would there be? What would they talk about that would tick off Bison fans? Sure if a game was finally scheduled they would probably talk about the history of the rivalry and how UND won the last game and has a better record overall against the Bison. Great. That can make some UND fans all warm and tingly inside. But guess what, they would probably bring up the fact that NDSU has won 10 National Championships compared to our 1 and that the have won 2 (at this point) at the FCS level. I am just wondering if you could tell me what kind of media BS you would expect??!!!

    Soooo

Please everyone stop responding to Fetch. I know its tempting...but we have gone through this ad nauseam for the past 6 years. Everything argument for both sides has been stated multiple times, over and over, on many different threads. It's been great being able to just talk sports these past few months. We are not forgetting the past...but we have moved on debating the issue.

Again....where were these people 6 years ago?!!!! To little to late.

For the 1000th time...Having Sioux name = no scheduled games with Minnesota or Wisconsin, and potentially being kicked out of the Big Sky. Not worth it. Not fair, obviously....but def finitely not worth it.
  9. You don't play this game because it is financially beneficial for one school or the other. You don't play this game because you want to sell tickets for a home game. You do not play this game because you have something to gain. You play this game because it is the biggest rivalry in the biggest sport that the two schools compete in. You play it because there is over 100 years of history of these two schools competing against each other. You play it because the vast majority of fans on both sides want this game to be played. The reasons for this game not being played are well documented and justified. Both sides need to sit down and resolve this and do what the overwhelming majority of fans on both sides want. This rivalry is still alive and well. A 107 page blog with 2130 posts...and counting 10 years after the last time the schools played is proof of that. This games deserves to be played. Whether it is every year, every other year, every 4 years...whatever. But these games need to be played for the sake of the rivalry...which will never die.
  10. Atta boy Drew!! Tough matchup but he held his own!
  11. Just listened back to Lucia on KFAN this morning. Although he said that he didn't want to wait around during the nickname debacle so they scheduled Notre Dame, he did say once that 4 year commitement is up, they are going to put North Dakota back on the schedule once that is over. The demand for the game to be scheduled is too great, that Minnesota doesn't dare not scheduling us. Imagine the buildup for that game after a 4 year break!!
  12. Anyone know if they are gonna wear the black jerseys tonight? Have we worn those yet this season?
  13. Watch the Sioux win Saturdays game to complete the sweep, then watch Parise in his first game with the Wild beat Colorado!! Sounds like a pretty good hockey day if you ask me!!
  14. If you really think about it, the chances of UND and Minnesota being put in the same regional in the playoffs in the next 4 years. They like to keep teams close to home....so I think that the chances of them playing each other are better than people think.
  15. Good to know that Lucia thinks playing Mankato and Bemidji is more important than North Dakota.
  16. Lucia was pissed for most of the interview. You could tell he was getting tired of answering the same questions about "why didn't you wait and leave dates open for one of the greatest rivalries in college hockey." He says the nickname thing was the main reason. Funny how Wisconsin had the same policy but somehow was able to leave dates open when the issue was obviously going to be resolved within the year. It's not like Minnesota was going to be struggling to find teams to play them. Lucia is pathetic and you can absolutely put the blame on him for putting a hiatus to this rivalry.
  17. I expect him to play. Whether he will be a factor in the game...that is yet to be determined. Gonna be hard to sit him for this weekend if you are Lucia.
  18. Go big or go home.......Sioux sweep!!!!
  19. So YOU, Drunk Hockey Guy are really telling us that we are insensitive and derogatory?? Really?? Starting a "Smallpox blanket" chant and then actually bringing a blanket to the Final 5? Really?? Are you really proud of your actions? Are you going to tell your kids how you made racially insensitive comments in public? Don't forget to tell them how you made an a$$ of yourself for many years in the student section at the DECC. Yeah...you should be really proud of yourself. Congrats!!
  20. I love how Virg can always take a shot at NDSU in every article he writes: "And, like Lucia at Minnesota in hockey, you can point at the finger directly at NDSU athletics director Gene Taylor for his dawdling efforts to restart the football rivalry." Love it!! I am sure Bison fans will love that!!
  21. Of topic a bit....but why can't the UND athletic department have nice tickets like these??!! I know they have nice colored tickets for NDSU football games. I realize that the Athletic Department probably wants to save a couple bucks...but seems like a program of our size and notoriety should step it up in regards to tickets. Anyway, not loosing sleep over it. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. Just sayin.
  22. Yeah, I guess the fact that Minnesota will play Notre Dame for the next 4 years....and Lucia's kid just happens to be playing for Notre Dame for the next four years is just a coincidence!! It's not like Lucia said that he wants to continue the rivalry and play UND every year and when the schedule came out he was disappointed. He said that he does not want to play UND because it is not a "healty rivalry" and what do you know....they aren't on the schedule!! Belivee it or not, coaches have a greater say in who they play than you think.
  23. That will never happen. Don't have the exact numbers in front of me, But I believe that if you for a new conference, there is no automatic qualifier for football for like 5 years and no AQ for basketball for at least 10 years....maybe more. Not sure about other sports...but I am sure it is similar. While I would love to see those schools all in the same conference, I don't see AD's and Presidents at these schools putting their atheltic programs through that.
