Didn't happen (gave up nine goals in two games). Mr. Kotai will have to learn the same lesson if we end up playing Augustana. If we can roll four lines and play tight defense, I think we can beat anybody. <sigh> never mind Quote

Meanwhile Auggie has one of the hottest goalies in the country Josh Kotai sporting 5 shutouts and a .936 save % No shot to beat any team in the field with your C- Game. I don't think you are beating Mercyhurst with a C- game. Quote
burd Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Tell me if I’m completely lost: Managing the last-change advantage is probably more important against teams with one or two lines that are extremely talented and require good personnel matchups—teams like UMD which have one line that is the core of their offense. In addition to this weekend, UND could meet up with UMD two more times but would have last-change rights for all of those due to superior ranking and home team designation. in fact, the home team designation and accompanying last-change rights may be the most important part of the discussions about ranking, site locations, and matchups. ?? But Kotai can and could steal a game from us. We've had games against Denver and ASU at home where we got goalie'd despite being the much better team. It could happen against Auggie for sure. If we have to get sent out east to play HC instead of Augustana or even Mankato I'll take it because those goalies scare me. Quote

My attitude is we'll have to beat whomever we'll have to beat. Focus on what you can control. This team does a good job of net-front presence in the offensive zone. That helps screening the goaltender and having players in position for second and third chance opportunities. Because beating a goaltender at long range or even cleanly up close at this level is very difficult. If Denver can win three titles in seven years (not counting the 2020 COVID year), they must have had to go up against good goaltenders to do it. The team cannot let certain opposing goaltenders get into their heads, it can become a self-fulfilling prophecy. 3 Quote

brianvf Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago I remember a UND NCAA game a few years ago when all we heard during the pre-game was how good the MSU goalie was. How unbeatable he was. Some kid named Ryan Miller. And then Spiewak scored on him on his first shift I believe. And the UND goalie on the other end pitched a shutout. 2 Quote

How would that work (in addition to this weekend)? Once this weekend in the NCHC tourney? Possible once in the NCAA Tourney? Everything is one and done. Quote

I think that in the NCAA tourny if you are playing a lower seeded team you are the home team. If all number one seeds make the FF (yeah not likely) the highest seeded team is the home team. Quote
