I just wish there was a bit of transparency with how much an athlete receives when they transfer and find a new home. I think that would either help fans understand or I guess think they’re even bigger idiots, depending on situation.

Can we dispense with the 'heartfelt' love letters when players leave a school? 

They all do it but if they were believed all of what they post they wouldn't be leaving.

There’s no question that staying at UND for most players actually increases their likelihood of being drafted, despite what you might think.

Having to move to a new state, new program, new locker room, new staff, all for money, diminishes your likelihood of making it to the next level.

Sure you’ll play against a higher level of competition, but if you don’t succeed given all the extra stressors you’ve put on yourself with moving, then it was all for not.

To me it’s a no brainer that the successful players stay at UND, not only because fans want them to, but because it is better for the players themselves. Even if the kid makes $100k, or even $500k, that pales in comparison to being on an NFL or CFL (particularly NFL) roster for 1-2 years …

For some, especially those who get 7 figures, I get it; but for most this is a shot in the dark that will bite them. 

Stay at UND. Get developed. Don’t be bought.

Sometimes a guy is just that good. Kenny was obviously playing at the wrong level. A lot of guys that transfer out are not transferring for those reasons. Even still, thanks for your time to all of them. We win fewer games without the guys that hit the portal this year. I’m glad we had them. Now we need to replace them and improve upon them.

Maybe I have become numb to the portal or something but none of these have really hit me like ah !@#$. I mean Fleming I wasn’t expecting but I don’t know I just feel like we can replace him.
