Dumb penalty no doubt about it but it didn’t look like he hit the Husky all that hard but maybe it doesn’t matter? Anyone know the rule on that? I think that’s the point though. Don’t give the refs the chance to change the game. They’ll make the call no matter the severity. 1 1 Quote
Godsmack Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Is Thoreson a modern day Aaron Marvin? Or perhaps a Joey Abate or Connor Caponi. 2 Quote

It just should go to show the players how momentum can change by a lapse in judgement. We were the aggressors before that, and after that St. Cloud was on the offensive even after the end of the penalties. Hopefully lesson learned, as the guys bailed Verhoeff out this time. I missed 1st period. Saw a lot of action near the UND goal after we went up 2-0. Big break on goal disallowed micro second after end of 2nd. Agree, hope lessons learned. Quote

Still crazy with the context though, Thoreson gives him a cross check to try and make him fall off balance backwards so he gives him a love tap in the stomach. To call a major on a play where the player isn’t even remotely harmed (because with context it was obviously a love tap) seems excessive. Extremely weak argument to say the play elevated to the severity of a major penalty. 1 Quote
Username Taken Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Didn’t play very well, lots of injuries and still got the sweep on the road. I’ll take that. Get healthy. 1 1 Quote

We were up 2-0 late in the second period when Rhett Gardner took a dumb face masking penalty and got a 5 and game. BC tied it up but we got a late game goal and empty netter if memory serves. Quote

Agree it didn’t amount to much, but with spearing and butt ending I think the refs might feel their hands are tied. Not sure of the actual rule if there is any forgiveness for either, but it is probably good to keep either out of the game altogether because of the pinpoint focus into a body. Should have responded with a cross check and they definitely couldn’t challenge that. We also got another call on what Laurilla thought was another icing, but wasn’t called so he ended up with a call trying to recover. Quote

I said no. Wrong decision. She met Boeser out in the concourse while getting her snack. Oh, and then she got NCHC fan of the week. 1 Quote
tnt Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Just wondering if there is any replay on such calls in the USHL or the CHL? Maybe players haven’t had to deal with every hit to the head or other play that could result in a major, so they don’t think anyone will notice. With video people with every team that are looking for something, you aren’t going to get away with much. Hopefully they all know now that there is an eye in the sky looking for a way to get a momentum changing power play. Quote
