Pardon me if this has been discussed before somewhere, but the 3x3 OT loss on Friday made me do a double take about points/standings/rankings, etc.

So, in the NCHC, there is no difference between losing a 3x3 OT and losing a shootout, is that right?  1 point for either??

But, as for the NCAA, a 3x3 OT loss is 2/3 loss of a loss and 1/3 of a win??  If the 3x3 OT ends as tie, it is recorded as a tie, regardless of shootout results?

For the NPI I believe it's 55% and 45% for an OT win and loss.

Anyone know what the logic was changing from PWR to NPI?

Some people cried about it, and those people are still crying about it after the change

Kid is becoming a force

He was noticeable all weekend. Much needed. This team needs a forward or two to take that step and generate offense consistently as we have a lot of great depth, but not a lot of true finishing so far this season.

How did UMD jump us in the new poll?

They should have been above us last week.  They are 8-2 and we are 5-3.  They took 2 of 6 points on the road vs us.  They sweep MN on the road and we split at home.  They should be ahead of us.

And we took 4 of 6 points. But, like @nodakgirl93 said, it doesn't mean anything in the long run.

60/40 if won in 3on3, if it goes to a shootout it's a tie.  Here's a good breakdown https://www.collegehockeynews.com/info/?d=npi

I really wish they would simplify this crap.

Go to 4x4 OT for 10 minutes for regular season games.

If it's still tied, then that's what we put in the record books.

Playoffs would remain the same as always (play until there is a winner).

The hockey polls never mean anything unless it's the NPI. It's a popularity vote.

Yes but many fans get upset when they don’t think their team isn’t where they think it should be. I’ve never paid any attention to them

The only "poll" that matters is the "pole" you raise a banner on.

Thus endeth today's homonym lesson.

FYP.

The only "poll that matters is" when UND wins a natty, the pole that raises in my.... wait.... no, your homonym is fine. 😆

I dont care about the polls either, but man its been too long since Nodak has been ranked #1.

I don't mind where we're ranked during the season...but if we start the next season #1, that's usually a good sign.  ;)

OK, I better come out on this.  Polls mean just about everything to me.  Just like natties, good ratings raise UND hockey in the estimation of others, bringing prestige, admiration, and bragging rights.  My personal life is sadly lacking those things, so I am forced to experience them vicariously through UND hockey.   As long as the Hawks muck around outside the top 5 or 6, I got nothin’.  Don’t send money.  Lots of rich people are hockey losers.  And if you’re a hockey loser, you might just as well cheer for Omaha.

That's funny right there.........Thanks Burd!

Fire Jackson thread started yet??

When he goes like 8 seasons with just 1 NCAA tourney game win and miss qualifying half the time for the NCAA tourney like under BB , I ‘m sure that  thread will rightfully have started up by then.

In my opinion, any time a player lays on the puck on the ice, anywhere on the ice, it should be delay of game if they aren’t giving effort to get up.

1100% agree.

Maybe because they "won" the series, 4pts to 2?
Not sure.

That was my thought too following Saturday’s game since they did not sweep but if same series result in a non-game series would that mean no TCoS?

Duluth also swept Bemidji St, something I’m guessing UND hasn’t done for several years.
