Missing inside the Alerus Center is a different matter though. Just looked it up. Elrichs was 14-19 last year. with 1 of those being blocked. Pretty good numbers but he's struggling this year for sure. Quote
Wildfan Posted September 13 Posted September 13 We also should've had something drawn up to atleast drain any sort of clock when having the FB with the lead under 5 minutes. Same thing at KSU, can't find a way to get anything off the clock leaving tons of time. Also if they were manned up so close in tight how did no receiver find any space on that last series, I would assume they were playing no deeps (unlike UND who played give them open deeps on last drive), and man upped as they were grabbing our guys on flats, was there nothing in the middle at all? They call it football for a reason. Can you spell KICKING GAME!! Maybe one of the girls on the soccer team wants to try kicking. 1 Quote
Hans8891 Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Should have put it away early, but good god with the calls in the last 4 minutes. Bailed out twice with pi calls on Grant that were iffy to say the least and then that last mugging with no call. Big sky officiating lived up to its reputation. Quote
UND Football Fan Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Had a chance to take the refs out of the game during 2nd quarter. I still thought too many fades when we started to establish a drive after getting a 1st down. Get a 2 yard run and than a fade call put us in 3 and 8 with them playing pass. That extra point miss plain old sucked, we did not chase the point (I think we or 0 for forever when trying to catch extra points). I cannot overly blame the D, when the offense had one sustained drive the 2nd half. A good team will find weaknesses and start finding things that work with more opportunities. Quote

cowboys5xsbs Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Blame the refs all you want we left points on the field in the first half and our play calling in the second half was atrocious. This game isn't on the refs. Quote

But didn’t he just make his last attempt before that? To not even try on 2 occasions seems strange in a game where your defense is playing well. 1 Quote

The series right before half I think totally expected to be able to get a play off with the 6/7 secs we had, usually that is a attempt at the end zone or throw away to keep clock, think the last play before half was completely Jerry deciding not to spike it thinking he could catch them off guard or thinking the clock would run out if he spiked it. ND-fan Posted September 13 Posted September 13 This loss is on coaching decision of not taking points in the first half. When on road always take points available especially when your up. I will like to see Schmidt come out now take responsibility for this loss it will tell me a lot on the future of this program and what he is trying to instill. He didn’t follow through on consistency of sound principals in coaching at end of first half not only did he make mistake once he repeated the same mistake for sure cost us home field if we make playoffs or worse we don’t make the playoffs with this loss if this would have been Bubba he would probably been gone for next week. 2 Quote
forksandspoons Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Again, too many carries for guys not wearing 28. It’s not that hard. 5.6 per carry. Stop over thinking it on the play calling 2 1 Quote
cowboys5xsbs Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Passing up the field goal in the first half also ended up mattering. That's just bad coaching. Quote

Wildfan Posted September 13 Posted September 13 I am actually surprised that we didn't get into the further lost points by trying to go for 2 to make up the missed FG. 1 Quote

The problem is he clearly had thr better players and every reason to win that game but play calling and coaching was the difference when it mattered even despite the bad calls they got. Quote
rochsioux Posted September 13 Posted September 13 I was hoping with a new head coach we could quit turning W’s into L’s. So far we are 3 games into the new regime and we are still doing it. I’ll give them some time but the early returns are not encouraging. 3 1 Quote
tnt Posted September 13 Posted September 13 I am glad they kept playing, but if you are up by 9 with under 10 minutes left, you at least don’t snap it until under 10 seconds, not at 20 seconds. 1 Quote
Wildfan Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Also interesting that Herder has called out some of these similar type of calls in FCS/FBS matchups, but I doubt he'll mention anything here about just even being questionable or debatable. Quote
shep Posted September 13 Posted September 13 This game should have been over in the 1st half It is so hard to be UND football fan 1 Quote
