Of course, I hope they fail. The proposed funding model and the required funding increase to ag college football (per their contract with the MW) along with the inevitable pressure it will put on state taxpayers (who don’t care about ag college) is the most b*llshit part of this. Biggest arrogant f*cks around come out of Fargo ag football … But UND needs to make it hard on them and focus on themselves; keep winning on and off the field, and Schmidt’s group most certainly will … A couple bad games from unproven Nathan Hayes… 2 Quote

This deal is so stupid. Enrollment at NDSU will continue to dwindle as the costs increase. Quote
CMSioux Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago You can bet they will try and justify more taxpayer dollars. Quote

Do you think with talk of a few Mountain West teams leaving in a few years for the PAC, that openings for more FCS schools will happen. If the MWC loses 3 teams, they could add 5 or 7 new schools over time and create a football conference for the top of Big Sky/MVFC football schools. UND, IMO, has a great young coach and will make a run at the MVFC title this year as long as the coach is there. I can see several of these schools talking within, on the possibility of going FBS. Some may already be deep into the discussion. Quote

Some may already be deep into the discussion. I think it is a possibility. I think that the top Big Sky/Summit(MVFC) teams are already in conversations on future landscape (see the new scheduling alliance for MBB that just came out). I don't know that what you're proposing would be well received under the current landscape (though I think it makes sense). The P4 needs everyone else to finish paying the share of the $2.8 billion NCAA lawsuit payments that they stuck them with before they are going to make their next move. However, once that happens, I think that is when you finally see the seismic shift that has been tossed around for quite a while and the P4 (or what's left of it) finally separate themselves. Can't remember exactly how that timeline would fit with the Grant of Rights for the MWC that would allow for the changes you mentioned. At that point, I could realistically see a separate second division and the top portion of the FCS combining with the G6. But that window is probably 6-8 years out. The P4 isn't dumb, they stuck all the lower level schools with a huge chunk of the settlement bill and are going to keep them around at least long enough to get that paid off. 1 Quote
