Maybe someone here can confirm, but have to wonder if there’s a clause on behavior that nullifies his NIL payment. Would think if you are academically ineligible, self-select not to compete (transfer/etc.), or gross misconduct there’d be a waiver of some kind to protect the NIL involved. Quote

Just shows the ignorance over there. Of course we know in the state of Minnesota any behavior like this wouldn’t be a crime anyway. That statement is so out of touch. I have heard nothing but great things about Verhoeff off of the ice. You hear nothing but bad things about Minneapolis on the news. 1 4 Quote
jk Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Still a lot we don't know, but I'm guessing winning a bar fight is a plus to most NHL execs. Quote

brianvf Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago If the reports about his mom being harassed are true, then I guess I don't blame him for hitting the guy. Sounds like he might have taken it a bit too far though. I'm guessing the charges get reduced or he takes a plea and that he still gets drafted where he would have been. Not sure how PSU will handle it though...if they'll make him sit a few games or not. 2 Quote

But still bad words doesn't mean you attack someone. What happened before his mom was harassed and was it only her? Quote

Some drunk idiot kept verbally harassing Gavin's mom, wouldn't go away. I don't condone the actions, but I understand why they occur. Allegedly, all of course 1 Quote
OopsSioux Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Gavin is a young man. Anyone can have their emotions get the most of them. It's not as if we haven't seen examples of bad behavior in Grand Forks by athletes as well. That being said, it's difficult to make any actual judgements about Gavin aside from the facts. I'm betting no one here actually knows him. The fact is he made a mistake, will be punished accordingly, and rightfully so. What he does from here will define his character and quite frankly may really affect his future. I hate to hear of these types of incidents as for men like Gavin this can be a turning point and he'll determine how good or bad it turns out. He has so much potential. I hope it doesn't get wasted. 1 Quote

Matt Frattin turned his whole situation around…ultimately I believe it cost him the Hobey Baker his senior year but he was lights out that season. 2 Quote

beastandco Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Per Seravalli, the incident was caught on a street camera. Whatever that camera showed was enough for these charges to be filed. It’s hard to make a fair judgement based off of the information provided at this time. The footage will be very telling. It will be interesting to see how Penn State responds. If anyone related to the team saw this go down and believe that his actions were justified, you have to imagine they try to clear this up as soon as possible. Quote

Some drunk chirps you and you break his jaw? Gotta be smarter than that. I'm smelling a huge settlement here. 1 Quote

Blackheart Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Not a US born player, so here on a student visa. Gets into an altercation which potentially could result in a felony. What will Penn State do? What will the US government do? I feel bad for the kid; if the story is as they say most guys would have reacted exactly the same way. Unfortunately for McKenna, Penn St does not exactly have a great track record for doing the right thing. This will be scrutinized very closely...and their will very likely be a video. Quote

southpaw Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Foreigner on a visa Accused of violence History of outbursts Thankfully for him, he's got money and lawyers who can ensure he receives due process. Will be interesting to see what the repercussions could be with future work interests. Quote
