Enjoyable interview with ASU coach Powers. Schmaltz gets most of his talking like he had a stroke out of the way in the intro, and asks some decent questions. Heatdaddy brings his irreverent sense of humor and Powers has great insight into the college game.

What is the deal with Schmaltz? Was he always like this or did he take to many shots to the melon ?

Imagine him and Kristo in a chat.

A shtick he's been working on since he replaced Trevor Olson as Gage's podcast partner. It felt forced and unnatural at first, to his credit he's improved it.

In summary…he’s trying a bit hard to jumpstart his post playing career career

Schmaltz did an interview with him recently and it was great.  He does a great job with his guests and interviews, imo.  A lot of people may not like his schtick, but I think he does a good enough job of not letting that bleed into interviews with his guests - his Chyzik interview is a great example of that.  I haven't seen this one yet, but I'm somewhat suprised that he did it with Gucci rather than with Guage on his other pod.  Not everyone likes his humor, but he doesn't take it too seriously so I don't see why anyone should be offended by it.  I find it to be a nice change of pace compared to everything else that's out there.  He's talented though, no doubt about that imo.

On the most recent Live in Five podcast with Mankato coach Troy Ward, Schmaltz had me in stitches at various moments of the interview. The last two-three minutes was hysterical where he goes into this bit about old teammates, acquaintances, etc randomly hitting him up with texts about the open assistant coaching gig at UND. It was really funny!
