ND-fan Posted Saturday at 04:56 AM Author Posted Saturday at 04:56 AM I watched some of the game the turnovers are problem with majority of them caused by stopping or getting them selves to deep and allowing other team to trap them or make poor pass. A lot of this to do with a team mostly made up young players and our experienced players all being undersized for their positions. This undersized players in our offense makes difficult when we’re running that weave at top key and trying to create screen roll opportunity. We have shot the ball a little better but we need to start hitting our shots better and getting better looks and we also need to rebound better offensively to many one done trips. I still think they are getting better but this as I have been saying going to be long season. We must have some injuries now with few players haven’t seen much court time lately. I don’t think we realized last year how bad team chemistry was last year and how Hutter is trying to change team chemistry this year. All this is going to take time rebuild Brewster and Berhard just ran this program right into the ground. I tired of people talking looking like DI coach what hell that means more importantly is institution supporting the program like DI program. This determines the quality of players were able to recruit and keep here. 1 1 Quote

This determines the quality of players were able to recruit and keep here. Brewster had success but was not liked by our New AD Chaves and was let go. Since then the Athletic Administration has failed to address issues as facilities, financial commitments, and hiring of a qualified D1 coach. Other programs within our region have hired and moved forward, we have not. You can even compare D1 Volleyball at UND to this problem! Before Covid, NIL, Transfer Portal all the issues that everyone uses as scapegoats. We had success making the NCAA National Tournament- once in WBB and 2x in Volleyball. Name me an outside our program, Coach that the AD has brought in that has consistently got us a competitive above .500 record? (I would consider Bubba, Schmidt, Berry, Jackson all in program) As far as funds, with ticket prices, increased required seating donations, and level of attendance. There should be plenty of funds to go around, unless we need an another multi million dollar hockey locker room renovation. 1 Quote
coachdags Posted Saturday at 02:44 PM Posted Saturday at 02:44 PM For those of you wondering about Turnovers, it can be fixed, by recruiting and coaching. There is a guy at Colorado State that would love to be here, but never extended an invite or granted an interview. Year end and year out Rico Burkett (UND Grad)- Asst at CSU has his Rams competitive and fun to watch. 1 2 Quote
ND-fan Posted 7 hours ago Author Posted 7 hours ago I look at Big Sky challenge for women’s basketball see we get both Montana's who are picked one and two in the Big Sky. I get it don’t get better playing poorer talent but I also think we need to get few games where our girls can build some confidence before conference season builds. Playing Montana State at home is going to be loss and I hope we can keep it respectable. SDSU past few years have even lost out there by double digits this year we just don’t have talent and size to match up with them especially with this young team we have playing. My question is this scheduling done by us or by summit conference in who we get to play I see NDSU plays one of Montanas but get more even road game but SDSU both games winnable games. Like say this schedule we don’t have may cupcakes on the schedule. We have lost couple games that we had good chance to win the game but this is going to be long season my hope is we keep improving and developing number of these girls for the future. Administration needs to step up provide more resources to help build this program recruiting players and then retaining our players. 1 Quote

You will get your wish: 3 Games in December against Bismarck State College, Mayville State, and Dickinson State. All 3 should be cake walks for a truly D1 Program. 1 Quote

UND moved to D1 status in 2008, completed its transition in 2012. It has been 13 years. Just last year, they got their 1st film study room. Although they have to share with the Men's program. It came mostly from outside donations. 13 Years to get a film room? Unacceptable if you want to recruit players who are D1, players like the facilities and amenities. Locker room, Study Facilities, Film Rooms, Snack Areas, Conditioning and Weight rooms, - all the things Hockey has.... Also, we could hire someone with knowledge and experience in a D1 program, which we have not the last 2 hires. Quote

Good question, do not know. He had an interest before he joined Ryun Williams at CSU in 2018. Ryun and Rico go way back. Played against each other in the NCC, UND vs USD, both point guards. Both hired/recommended by Greg McDermott at Wayne, Nebraska, Ryun was HC-WBB, Rico HC-MBB, they overlapped 8 years there. They have become great friends and Coach well together. He expressed interest to me both during the Brewster Change and the Mallory Change, but never interviewed; both hires were done in-house and very quickly. Quote
