Pretty darn impressive.  PP is now #1 in the nation.

The power play continued to thrive without star players, though.

The Fighting Hawks went 3-for-4 on Saturday night. They're now 6-for-14 in the four games without Reschny and Verhoeff — who play on the top unit — and 11-for-24 during the eight-game winning streak.

UND now has the nation's No. 1-ranked power play at 32.4%.

Article on Spunar from CHN:

Quote

“I was still thinking I was gonna go back to Europe and play pro somewhere, but then a few coaches called me and I talked to North Dakota, and I was interested. My coaches in Dubuque talked to me too and I saw some videos on YouTube, and it looked like a sick spot to play.”

Špunar enters the second half a perfect 10-0-0, and he owns a 1.50 GAA and .936 save percentage – which rank first and tied for third among NCAA goaltenders.

I worry that some NHL team that needs help in the AHL will try to sign him after the year.  Was Belfour the only one and done goalie at UND, as far as signing a pro contract?

Nobody tried signing Cam when he put up similar numbers in 16. Not that Spoon isn't better than Cam, but he is only facing 20 shots a night.

Any chance not winning a world juniors medal causes any of our 4 world junior players to want to return? From my perspective. I think all four of our world juniors players would benefit from another year.

EJ could benefit from a year of gaining more of an offensive side of things. Don’t see him playing many NHL minutes next year if the likelihood of him scoring are low

I think it would definitely play a part in their decisions.
