I remember telling friends that UND would be ecstatic with winning football championships at any level where the competition includes NDSU. Kupchella was the guy I remember knocking 1AA. I said he wasn't true D1 like D1 hockey and questioned if it was a higher level of competition compared to D2. I think the UND football fans felt otherwise and wanted to move up. Quote

I did not realize it was coming from the UND administration, let alone the university president. Quote

Beyond a silly narrative. Poor leadership tends to lead you [UND] astray, who would’ve thought? 1 Quote

forksandspoons Posted January 9 Posted January 9 The potential for the offense next fall is awesome. Hopefully the new players can gel with the returning players this spring. Could have an extremely athletic QB, with three new speedy WR weapons (one proven at FCS, and two FBS dropdowns) + Deng, at RB you'll have Ziebarth + Seidl, behind 4 returning starting offensive linemen and a couple others who played a good amount. I wonder if they'll continue to look for a TE as I know the one offer they had out a while back committed elsewhere. Everyone can probably agree the defense has a ton of work to do. CB has already been addressed with Lewis and Walker + those that are returning. Safeties struggled last year, but were mostly all new to playing meaningful minutes and were very young. Hopefully, the addition of Frankfather pushes them all to get better. The DL hasn't been great for a while. They had a good amount of youth at DE last year, and it will be interesting to see which players fit the new scheme. Returning McNeal at LB is great, and Rucker will likely be a beast next season, but it just feels like some more size in the middle and speed on the outside is needed. Hopefully, the spring portal is as good as this winter has been to UND, and they are able to get some impact players at DT, Edge, & LB. Known transfers: QB - Javance Tupouata-Johnson - San Diego State WR - Jamaal Young II - Arizona State WR - BJ Fleming Jr. - Northern Arizona WR - Kristen Hoskins - Minnesota CB - Bennett Walker - San Diego State CB - Zach Lewis - Northern Arizona DT - Emmanuel Olagbaju - St Thomas Edge - Kyjuan Vengrowsky - Winona State S - Nate Frankfather - Mt San Jacinto (JUCO) 3 Quote
