I'm out of state, so my wife's cousin went to the Alerus before 10 this morning and got 3 tickets to the Bison game for us.  Anything to avoid those outrageous Ticketmaster fees.😊

I think they can be avoided by making large group purchases as well.

Bennett Walker and Zach Lewis seem to be great additions!

"At first, I wasn't even sure what North Dakota was, if I'm being honest," Walker said. "I had never really heard of it. But you want to come here. I mean, this is the favorite school that I've been at. When you're in a smaller town like this, the hospitality people will show you and the kindness ... you're not going to get that other places. That makes it a lot easier to play for this city. When you have the UND on your chest, it means a little bit more. Because of how great this town has been to me, I've honestly loved it. One hundred percent."

One of my hopes is that we cut down on opponents third down conversions. It was frustrating to know that stopping a third and long was 50/50 at best.

That’s been worth probably 2-3 losses per year the last decade. Both Bubba and Miss eras. New scheme new results?

@geaux_sioux is correct. UND and Schmidt were trying to figure this out going back to even 2014. 3rd down is indeed the money down …

Hopefully we now have some better answers with new scheme, better players, and new defensive staff ….

I think it's really neat the emphasis Schmidt has put on "701" as a mantra.  At the end of this trailer, he does a call-and-response: "7   ?  , 0 excuses, 1 goal."  Can anyone decipher what they say after the 7?

That's what I am thinking, also. As in 1. offense; 2. defense; 3. kickoff; 4. kick return; 5. punt; 6. punt return; 7. field goal/extra point.

Ok.  That's what the closed captioning says, but I know some of the other things the players say (the stuff that's not directly into a mic) the CC has wrong.

Where will be the strong link in this year’s team? -  Coaching, or defense, or offense, or kicking, or fan support, or administrative support, etc.

Running the ball behind the experienced offensive line. I would love nothing more than for it to be the defensive front, though!

Hoping for much better QB play too.

My opinion of strongest units for each side of the ball:

Offense

1) O Line 2) RBs 3) WRs 4) QBs 5) TEs

Lot of knowns on the O Line and at RB. After that, a lot of unknowns, but WR has added some speed and I am looking forward to seeing Fleming, Hoskins, Young, along with Deng, Dennis, Tai, and company.

Defense

1) EDGE 2) NI 3) SAF 4) LBs 5) CBs 6)DTs

I think EDGE group will surprise some people this season and the top two nickel guys seem to always be around the ball. Safety added some good experience and returns multiple guys with good amount of playing time. LBs have a lot to prove behind McNeal. CBs added some experience but sounds like they’ve been giving a true freshman a look. DTs it has been so long since UND has had dominant players at this position I forgot what that looks like. Hopefully changing the scheme changes that in a hurry. A lot to prove from a group with not much experience at all.

Special Teams

Should be solid as I believe everyone returns (K, P, LS)

Reading Millers daily updates it seems to me like the Defense is much improved or our Offense is not very good.  Sure hope it is the Defense being much improved.

The passing game is going to be a work in process.

We will be able to move the ball effectively on the ground, similar to or better than last year.

I was curious to know too!!! Does anyone know if they're open to the public?

Sounds like a blast.

We need a QB that can sling the ball around.  This Running QB BS only works if you can stretch the field.  Defense can stack the line again and unless the RB breaks free we will be Nickeling and Diming our way down the field until we make a mistake to end the drive.

So who gets their shirt pulled this year?  Two or all three from Maple Grove (guessing just the two potentially - OL is pretty deep as of now I believe)?  I don't have a subscription to GF Herald so haven't read any of Tom's articles......

Observations of Day 12 of UND football fall camp - Grand Forks Herald | Grand Forks, East Grand Forks news, weather & sports

Tom is calling balls and strikes on the gridiron.

Daily dose of QB: The quarterbacks were a little better overall Wednesday. Javance Tupou'ata-Johnson had one of his better days, while Simon Romfo continues to be an energizing force for the offense and was the most accurate long-ball thrower during the team setting Wednesday.

The passing game will also be better IMO. It just might take a little time with a new starter.
