brianvf Posted November 19 Posted November 19 Definition of a must sweep weekend right here. Need to get players healthy and get a couple wins to gain some confidence again. Get the PP and PK back on track. OMac nets a goal this series. Hobie and TJ each get a game. RMU swept Miami earlier this year (outscoring them 9-2 in 2 games) but just got swept by Sacred Heart last weekend. Go Sioux, take it to 'em. 2 Quote

siouxfaninseattle Posted November 19 Posted November 19 Definitely a must-win weekend, but not much Pairwise help even with two wins. Quote
fightingsioux4life Posted November 19 Posted November 19 It is insane that we have a critical must-sweep series before Thanksgiving. 1 Quote

Popular Post TNF Posted November 19 Popular Post Posted November 19 The focus needs to be on getting healthy, finding chemistry in line combinations, potting a key goal or two that unlocks a player ready to raise their play to a new level, and getting out of here with two much needed wins. Being hyper-focused on Pairwise at this point is the exact reason people are coming after Berry. We need to spend this first half of the year developing young players and learning to play as a team through adversity. Try different players at center (for Berg) so they get experience for later in the season when injuries come back around or gain key experience for players that will be asked to do it next year. This is how you build success, not only for this year, but use this time to get players ready for future roles. 1 4 Quote

This is patently false and out of touch with reality. We've won one NCAA tournament game against lowly AIC (who's about to be a Div II team) in the 8 NCAA tournaments held since then while our rivals rack up titles. THAT'S why people are coming after Berry. Seasons like how this one are going are just more fuel to the fire. 1 Quote

This notion of “these players need time to adjust” mentality is sickening. In college hockey every game is huge (especially non conference games) and everyone needs to bring their A game. 1 Quote

Didn't we outshoot them like 89-30 that weekend? That was the season where we couldn't score goals to save our lives no matter how badly we outplayed a team. It was like a season's worth of the 2011 Frozen Four against Michigan (sorry to bring up that tragic event) Quote

Denver is the second youngest team in college hockey and uses zero excuses. Quote

THAT'S why people are coming after Berry. Seasons like how this one are going are just more fuel to the fire. Let me rephrase. One of the many reasons people are coming after Berry is the laser focus on winning the Penrose. To do so, you ride older portal goaltenders in games you are favored in instead of getting your younger guys much needed reps. You ride your top d-pair in key situations often logging crazy minutes instead of developing the next pair. Denver is the perfect example. They are okay to drop games along the way if it means developing as a team Even in a high profile road series, it wasn’t exclusively the Devine, Buium, etc show down the stretch. They roll their lines and trust their development throughout the year. And over several years, they have guys up and down the lineup they trust in any situation. And if their start is any indication, they aren’t even sacrificing regular season wins at this point. 1 Quote
Wilbur Posted November 19 Posted November 19 This is a score the puck weekend. Some guys have been snake bitten a bit, but this should be a 5-1 both nights weekend for UND. Dropping a game at home to Robert Morris just makes the mountain to climb that much higher. Sweep the damn weekend. 1 Quote

Popular Post RedFrog Posted November 19 Popular Post Posted November 19 I haven't gone through and read any of the threads from the Denver weekend as I sense that it is a lot of the same rhetoric from the same posters about firing Berry and rehashing the lack of performance in the national tournament. Not saying there isn't some validity in those comments and concerns, but to see the same crap over and over again gets pretty nauseating. Let's talk about it again in April if we aren't playing. I honestly didn't think we played that poorly over the weekend and was very impressed with how good Denver is. They appeared to me to be heads and shoulders better than anyone we have have played so far this year. I felt like the boys played hard and competed most of the weekend and I am more optimistic than pessimistic at this point, especially if we can get and stay healthy. Having said that, I told my wife on Saturday night when they showed the next 3 series for UND that I felt we needed to go 6-0. If this team is going to contend for a natty, injuries be damned, they have to sweep the next 3 weekends. Also, my wife and I always pick a player to score before each game, kind of where the Sioux Survivor came from all those years ago, and I have picked OMac every single night so far ... I won't be picking him on Friday night so he can get off the snide. 2 6 Quote

You want to talk about the defensive breakdowns from last weekend and who missed their assignments? Too bad, FiRe BeRrY. Think we need a goaltending change? Nice Try, FIRE BARY How about that destination game in Austin, could be fun right? ONLY if BERRY is FYRED I'm beginning to think it's similar to someone addicted to gambling where they actually want to lose so they can feel the adrenaline rush. 4 Quote
