That’s a tuff one. Should be all four actually but if had to pick one my guess is Mal although she’s had less years coaching her team than Sather has and next season for the gals IMO looks more promising for the men.

UMD and SCSU are slowing going to die off in the age of NIL. These D2 schools can’t keep up with the big dogs, especially if their schools are hurting academically (scsu)

i have had the same thoughts.. dont know if i can  see a scsu that is still playing D1 hockey in 10 years , unless they have a major turn around

Having them run a Fighting Sioux jersey for a limited time isn't a bad idea for us fans but the school probably won't allow that. The school wants to move on from the nickname (no matter how hard us fans complain) but their image/brand is no longer the "Fighting Sioux". I believe one of the biggest things that holds us back still, is people/programs inability to move on from the "Fighting Sioux" nickname.

I think you can adapt just like teams like Minnesota State have done.  25 year old Canadians may be more of the norm for those that don't have the money to keep up.  I think you can be competitive with older players that are willing to get to the hard areas, unlike some of the more talented younger guys.

How much do you think apparel companies pay to use a trademark? Depends on the contract of course. For example, one can sell trademark rights to an apparel company or to a second party for a lump sum or a percentage of the profits/sales price etc. Certainly, there can be other options negotiated between the involved parties. Some of our legal experts would know better than I (nothing personal , but if we are upset about the money “we leave off the table” rather than “on the table”, we should have someone else negotiating).  
 

Profit margins on sporting apparel is often higher than other apparel, up to 30% maybe a little more or sometimes significantly less. That goes to the retail store owner, not the owner of the trademark. I may be mistaken, but the money earned from this on a “limited time run” isn’t going to produce $400,000 or more. This isn’t the Nike Swoosh.

NoDak apparel tends to appeal to a limited regional market. It is only on a portion of UND apparel.  If we want to buyout contracts, then we should be the ones to write the checks.
