I opined that Blais’ most successful four year stretch was significantly better than Hak’s best four year stretch, and Blais did it with zero first round picks vs. Hak’s half dozen. 1 2 Quote

cberkas Posted January 1 Posted January 1 So, looking at years 1997-2001 of "chippas" in the NCAA 1997 - 0 1998 - 1 1999 - 3 2000 - 7 (Hale was a 2000 but played 2001) The amount of 1st rounders going NCAA wasn't all that high until Hak was coach. With 1986 having 5 (Pelawa being one) 1995-2004 37 1st rounders (1 didn't play in the NHL) 2005-2015 55 1st rounders (1 didn't play in the NHL) Quote
tnt Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Where is the line of expectation for this program? Brad Schlossman points out that Pat Ferschweiler for Western Michigan just got a new contract through 2030, based on them making the tourney for the last 3 years, the first time in program history. Looks like they will most likely make it 4 years in a row this year, which is something Berry has never done, and Western has had a lot of turnover the past few years. Western reminds me of the style we used to be known for, by being fast hockey with an edge that sometimes is a problem because of penalties. Western does have the problem we have had lately though and have not done much in the tournament, and thus the question, what should the level of expectation be for our program compared to those of teams like St. Cloud and Western who both have had decent success? 2 Quote
yzerman19 Posted January 1 Posted January 1 If we are now in the same strata as Jan Brady and Western that is really, really sad. 1 Quote

Western Michigan has made a total of 9 NCAAs about to be 10. Might as well give him the contract extension with him having 3/4 of those appearances. Eventually that first win is going to come and hopefully many more after that. Quote

There isn't a single current college hockey player who was alive when Michigan last won a national championship. 1 Quote

I don’t think he is though. We treat Penrose Cups like they’re the ultimate crowning achievement lately. At some point, 1 NCAA tournament win since 2016 is going to become too hard to overlook. My guess is even hardcore Berry supporters will finally lose their patience when the 2025-2026 season ends without a UND post-season win. Quote
SIOUXELEVENS Posted January 11 Author Posted January 11 Man I don’t know if I can take another year of at the end of the day we played well but lost cliches. My big question is there is talent on this team so could another coach do a better job ? I say I think so. Raboin , smaby , St.clair hell bring Hak back. Quote
