SiouxFan100 Posted October 28 Posted October 28 After a tough loss we move onward to Indiana State. This is another road game we should win. I believe we win this one. We can throw in the towel or get back to work and make best of the situation. I say the team gets back to work and rebounds. very encouraging with Romfo taking a huge step forward. Our “D” not so much. We just haven’t handled a running qb. Probably no easy correctable short term solution to that. Game of the Week so no Midco for the noon start. Ready for another game to get rid of some of the bitter taste and disappointment. Fire away GFH Noon Football at Indiana State Terre Haute, Ind. MinnDak Posted October 28 Posted October 28 The game is a lot more interesting and more on the line than it was a few days ago. Quote
AJS Posted October 28 Posted October 28 Being a realist with the Bubba situation (we all know he's the issue, but he's not going anywhere), what's the best we can hope for? (1) Simon and the offense continue to excel. Simon is coming off a performance where he was excellent. (2) Individual growth defensively. There needs to be a handful of players that you feel good about in future seasons. Must win for the program. They need to win this one, win one against the SD schools and then put it all on the line the last game of the season. They aren't going anywhere this season, clearly with the defense. When I say what's the best we can hope for? It's feeling good about this team offensively going into the offseason, have a handful of guys defensively you can build around. Unfortunately for Joel, he will be the scape goat (better than nothing, starting with a new DC). Defensive rebuild. To do that, this team needs to win the portal. Sell enough hope that next year could be different. They cannot afford another bad portal year like last. Quote

geaux_sioux Posted October 28 Posted October 28 True to form would be blow ISUb out, lose to SDSU, beat USD then piss it down our leg against ISUr. 3 Quote
wheelsup Posted October 28 Posted October 28 In true UND football fashion.. we will actually lose to ISUb this weekend.. then beat both SDSU and USD at home and then piss it all away against ISUr. Quote
Kab Posted October 28 Posted October 28 How is UND going to correct the defense in 5 days? is it 4 days of practice and 5 days of film or do they practice Friday before leaving ? the players and coaches need to quit thinking about road games as being more difficult It’s another damn game on Saturday, shouldn’t matter when or where ‘they still get to sleep in a good bed and have good food, a 2 to 3 hour plane ride should be nothing, better than 6 hour bus rides in d2 what happened to mantra anytime any place? UND Football Fan Posted October 28 Posted October 28 If UNI put up 35 on Mo St, maybe we can have a defense. However the best defense is if we can some how ger an2-3 score lead and make their offense more predictable…..check that we did that at home and were still forced into OT. I do hope we can be physical (both sides we did not do that last week) in the trenches and not embarrass ourselves with the QB run/scramble game. We do this we should win. Quote
Oxbow6 Posted October 28 Posted October 28 The spread should be around UND -10 like last week....and like last week I'll be taking whatever points ISU is getting. 1 Quote

Well, historically speaking (pretty good sample size over the past 11 seasons), I think we have a pretty good idea how this bunch is going to be respond. There is one constant, the main “leader” in the room … 1 Quote

Or win, lose, win, win, then first round playoff loss. Either way, this team is once again not going anywhere… thanks to trying the same thing over and over again (Chaves) and expecting different results … Quote
Longtime fan Posted October 29 Posted October 29 I say und has a 25% of beating Indiana ST this weekend. Why only 25%. -road game. Enough said - their qb is a runner, leads the team in rushing and he’s bigger than the Youngstowns qb. Unds defense is charming soft. Bad results to a bad team. -we have bubba Enough said Last year und had to kick a Fg with :00 to extend the game into OT against a horrible 1-11 team. It was the only time that Indiana st scored 30 points on the season. Indiana states only win last year was against 0-11 western Illinois. They were a second away from a two win season in the confines of the alerus. Indiana st is a bad team, much like last year …..but und still has bubba. Bubba has the uncanny ability to make low end teams look like a Tom Brady led New England patriots team. There is absolutely no chance that the road woes will stop now. But can they squeak by a horrible team on Saturday? Don’t bet your best tie on it. This year ….Indiana st (3-5) has scored 30 points or more just once against a 1-6 Murray st that gives 40 points/game. I believe they get their second on Saturday. Sadly I see 34-38 Indiana st victory as where this should be an absolute ass whooping by und in the 48-10 range. But we have bubba and beating a three win team is asking a little too much. Bubba is occasionally ok at beating the zero, one or two win teams in their stadiums. But a three win team ……? 4 Quote
SiouxFan100 Posted October 29 Author Posted October 29 I didn’t know their qb was leading their team in rushing - not good for us. Our d just doesn’t seem fast enough to handle a rushing qb. I hesitate to say but There were blatant holding non calls against our d last game. If that happens again we are going uphill. Quote

We got 14 points with a lot of help from the refs. Romfo definitely looked better but our run game wasn't there. Quote
Kab Posted October 29 Posted October 29 Running QB isn’t something our coaches or players can handle ‘that’s on bubba Quote
Wilbur Posted October 29 Posted October 29 You would wish the team would be ultra focused on this game, and play out the rest of the season as if each game was a playoff game, but we know that isn't the case with what we've seen in the past. A positive going into the game is that our QB play is trending upwards. Simon was in complete control on the plays he was on the field....(see what I did there). This is another not good team that UND shouldn't lose too, but we are what we are on the road. Offensively do they go with more of a ball control approach to keep our defense off the field (Bubba ball....gasp), or do we know that we'll have to score at least 45 to win the game? I've got no clue on the score. Probably a lot of points as our defense isn't interested in stopping anyone on the road. Quote

I am on board with Indiana St. and Illinois St are essentially playoff games, must wins. Then, need 1 of 2 at home vrs Jacks/Yotes and I am giddy with 8-4 and a playoff game. 2-2 in the last 4 is the most reasonable prediction........not interested in playoffs at that point. 1 Quote

Gotta go 3-1 or we don't deserve to be in the postseason. Maybe they surprise us and beat the Jacks and Yotes being they are in the friendly confines. SDSU isn't nearly what they were the last two seasons, thought the Yotes should've beaten them. At the same time 1-3 is still very much on the table....heck 0-4.... Quote

Are you giddy or are you “griddy”? Bubba “griddy” Schweigert is sure to griddy his way to another collapse. This program (UND football) has some awesome buildings coming up, but it’s otherwise built on excuses. Excuse after excuse. This press conference explanation is embarrassing. Put it into perspective? You lost to Youngstown state?!! You lose on the road routinely every season. The road record is horrific. So much potential for UND football, but continuing to drop the ball on a consistent basis. UND fans deserve better after nearly 20 years of living in NDSU’s shadow. Toe to toe, day by day. No will or desire to be great, no will or desire to be the best. Again wake me up when we have a new, improved leader of men at HC for my beloved UND fb program 4 Quote
