All of whom are currently unranked, & it's not like BU blew them out of the rink either. Can't expect freshmen like Boisvert & Swanson to carry the team. Need players like Strinden & Kunz to get off the milk carton & start producing. It's all hands on deck going into the BU series. 2 Quote
gfhockey Posted October 22 Posted October 22 We get spanked Friday night 6-2 but our culuture shows up and salvages a tie 2-2 1 3 Quote

I’d be curious to know who your other top 4 are knowing that #11 occupies a spot in the top 5 though! Hrkac, Johnson, Patrick and Toews. Although I could be talked into Joyce over Toews. Quote

SiouxFan100 Posted October 22 Posted October 22 I don’t have any idea about the outcomes of this weekend games other than there is a 50% chance we will never be out of it Quote
TwamleyShuffle Posted October 23 Posted October 23 As someone who has a Boston Terrier, I have been looking forward to this series. They really are a nice dog breed. At least from my experience I’ve gotten that impression. Quote
brianvf Posted October 23 Posted October 23 Anyone know if Zmolek is practicing? Seems like the coaching staff think that MacDonald will be ok to play this weekend, but I haven't heard any updates on Zmolek. Would be nice to have his presence on the backend against those skilled BU forwards. Quote

If I had to build a "12F/6D/3G + 1 skater" all-time game day roster Lee Davidson and Russ Parent would be at the eval camp. If Berry says he's a 'game-time decision', that's usually code for 'won't be playing'. Quote
.357 Posted October 23 Posted October 23 Zmolek day-to-day, but Berry doesn't think he'll be playing this weekend. Quote
Popular Post Wilbur Posted October 23 Author Popular Post Posted October 23 Actual prediction for the weekend: UND comes out hopping after a so-so performance in Mankato and puts the Terriers behind the 8 ball early in a 4-2 win on Friday. Saturday the Terriers respond, but we play okay too only to lose at the end or dare I say some OT in 3-2 fashion. Last time I saw BU live was a Friday night in December in 1996 at the Old REA. Freshman goaltender Aaron Schweitzer got the start, and after giving up three goals in the first period, the team rallied and won 6-4 in what was a very similar game to the March meeting between the two teams to close out that season. The Old REA was hopping that night.....the student section was merciless towards BU goalie Tom Noble (May have to check me on the name). Believe Tim O'Connell got tossed for a fight that night too for pounding a Terrier that got too close to Schweitzer.... The good ole days..... 8 Quote

brianvf Posted October 24 Posted October 24 https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/caleb-macdonald-expected-back-for-boston-university-series MacDonald will play: Quote MacDonald was held out of Saturday's series finale, but he's expected to return this weekend when No. 7 UND hosts No. 3 Boston University in a two-game nonconference series in Ralph Engelstad Arena. "He's doing well," UND coach Brad Berry said. "He'll be playing. He's been practicing here each and every day, and he's looking good. He's back in the lineup." But prob not Zmolek: Quote MacDonald's return would be big for the Fighting Hawks, who played without junior defenseman Bennett Zmolek last weekend. UND might be without him again this weekend. Berry hasn't ruled Zmolek out yet, but did not sound optimistic Wednesday. "He's day to day," Berry said. "We'll see where it is tomorrow, but I would suspect that he probably needs another week or so here." 1 Quote
brianvf Posted October 24 Posted October 24 Dixon Ward's One More Shift on Friday...really wish I was back in GF to see that...he was one of my favorite players growing up. Hopefully UND can win for him on Friday night, I think they have a pretty good record in these OMS games... 3 Quote
Oxbow6 Posted October 24 Posted October 24 It's early in the season but at some point your impact and value to the team kind becomes irrelevant if you don't play. Quote

Hopefully the boys play like he did back in the day Dixon Ward and Greg Johnson were playing right when I was figuring out what UND hockey was and was all about. When I think back to when I started watching games, those guys come to mind right away and were integral to falling in love with the Sioux. A player that I think a lot of people forget about is Jeff McLean. His Senior season with UND he finished with 70 points, after starting his freshman year with 3. 1 Quote
burd Posted October 24 Posted October 24 I was weaned on Earl Anderson, Jim Cahoon, Alan Hangsleben et al. Familiar names from the '70 team: Kleven (Red Lake Falls), Johnson (GF), Nelson (Warroad), Duncan (Calgary), and good ol' Tim O'keefe. I don't know the relationships between those names in later players. 1 1 Quote
Sweethockey Posted October 24 Posted October 24 Talked to TJ last Tuesday, he said he played against BU when he was freshman at Northeastern. His confidence in playing them well tomorrow gave me some confidence in our team succeeding tomorrow. Quote
Blackheart Posted October 25 Posted October 25 Who's printing up the giant banner, "Sucks 2 BU"? 1 Quote
burd Posted October 25 Posted October 25 Yeah but. Flyover Grindahs v. Coastie Chippahs? No way. Ask any broadcasting crew that ever worked the FF. The UND Ledgies already have the cliche' complaints loaded and ready to send. Watch the World Series. Go out for Chinese. Do laundry. And if you absolutely must put some money down on this? If the over/under is less than 25, pick the over. Quote
Blackheart Posted October 25 Posted October 25 Paging MafiaMan...I'll be at the games this weekend so this will give you another opportunity to buy me a beer! You ghosted me in Mankato; Mettlers just wasn't the same without you there. (I'm pretty sure I saw gfhockey, though ) Quote
