Your grading scale appears to be “potential.”  Mine is “results.”  After 5 games of head to head competition, it’s painfully obvious to me who the better team was - and the gap wasn’t close.

UND got hot goalied in 4 of those 5 games…

So did Western earn themselves a #1 seed and will they likely end up in Fargo with the Gophers as I believe I heard either Alex or Starman say?

So by that logic the team that wins the National Championship every year has the most talent. You may want to work on reading comprehension.

Here is what CHN predicts:

Manchester
1. Boston College vs. 16. Bentley
8. Providence vs. 9. Denver

Toledo
2. Michigan State vs. 15. Cornell
7. Boston University vs. 10. Ohio State

Allentown
3. Maine vs. 13. Penn State
6. Connecticut vs. 12. Quinnipiac

Fargo
4. Western Michigan vs. 14. Minnesota State
5. Minnesota vs. 11. Massachusetts

Some interesting matchups there, and should be some good games.
Potential DU vs BC and WMU vs UMN regional final games could be good hockey.

DU gets Providence?  Didn't the Sioux beat them in the season opener?

Ha, would be cool to see the two NCHC teams barrel thru the ten B10/HEA teams.  ;)  :)

Yeah, we like to start the season strong and work backwards from there under Berry.

Denver, BC, BU and Minnesota can all lose game 1.

If that holds, the Manchester & Toledo brackets are true gauntlets.

So was 14 the cutoff this year for an at-large?

Mankato at 14 was the cut off and oddly enough they also got CCHA automatic qualifier.

15 Michigan and 16 Arizona were bumped for ECAC and AHA champs.

Gotta give a ton of credit to Ferschweiler for recruiting some damn good players and turning nobodies into dudes.

Slukynsky brothers were about to go to Northern Michigan and Bump was at Vermont before both programs lost their coaches, Ferschweiler comes off the top rope & steals em last minute. Helluva job

17 new guys on that rosters from last season. That's insane. On the UND side of the ledger rumor was BB was petitioning the NCAA to get Hain and Senden back for one more season this year.

The fact that UMass and Mankato will be at Scheels and UND won't is IMO another nail in the coffin for this coaching staff. UeffffingMass....uffff but they did win the Natty in 2021. When your program is not even on par with UMass changes need to be made.

A very close friend went to Western for his undergrad and MSU for his medical degree.   LIke all people who did not go to UMich, he hates the ugly helmets, so its a trifecta for him.

Surprised the ncaa dosent try to find a way to put Denver and Western in the same region.....they usually are against the possibility of 2 nchc teams In the frozen four

Nah, that would mean Denver has a chance to win another.

there has to be some stat out there that supports the notion that UND played the most games against teams in the tourney. Not making any excuses, just kind of “neat” to see a bunch of teams we played make the tournament. In college football terms they would be quality wins and loses.

Sad reality is that UND has been GUARANTEED home regional games every other year for the past decade.  This season. Again in 2027. And 2028.

Too bad they don’t take advantage…

I’m tired of UND bidding on regionals in Fargo

i hate to give that town one dime

I don’t mind Sioux Falls, or rapid city, I wish Bismarck had a bigger rink

We went to the Loveland regional three years ago and had a blast. They did it at the Budweiser Events Center where the Colorado Eagles play and it’s a fantastic arena. Seats around 7k and feels like a college hockey arena. Having Denver hosting also helped attendance and atmosphere. Saw a great regional final between Denver and Duluth. They’re set to host a regional next year, I believe as well.

Any one have Purple Cows winning their regional?

Mankato has not lost since January. Goalie’s save percentage is .945% and his worst performance this season was 3 goals (5 times).  32 other games allowing just 0, 1, or 2 goals.
