Wouldn’t mind having a walk on beef filling that spot. going to need to find a replacement for Quincy once he graduates Quote

It was poor in almost every big game we had this season. 2 Quote

I am glad that "dust" allowed us to be a top scoring offense again this year. (24th in the FCS) 1 Quote

How did it go vs Boise St? @SDSU? @UNI? @USD? even Sac St when it mattered? Let me know will you? It's not like this is the first year of this "2 yards and a cloud of dust offense"... How many times over the years has Danny out thought himself and done some ridiculous trick play(which fails badly) when we could have just run the ball? I'm not saying that the offense was worse than the defense this year, but often the biggest problem with a bad defense is the offense can't dominate TOP and/or gets behind a TD or two before it starts moving the ball. 2 1 Quote

Two yards and a cloud of dust through the air or on the ground? Is that what you are saying? No designed QB runs?, no TE routes? rare deep throws? Just swing passes, WR screens and running the ball until we start to dominate on the ground and then mysteriously decide to throw? Quote

Next year when we have a QB who is more confident throwing down the field, let's talk about this 2 yards offense. If you want to can the guy who is the only reason we were a decent team this year, be my guest. 2 Quote

There have been some head scratchers on offense a few times for sure this year, and as I mentioned earlier in one post Danny's shine has dimmed some and I was flat out pissed at the offense a few times this year. Next year with a bigger arm and more mobile QB in Feeney or Jerry we will see what he can do. If the offense is still run the same way with either of those two under center....a change may be needed. If you are correct and either of the other two guys are that much better than Tommy, doesn't that bring up a myriad of other problems? I have gotten really excited about this program a few times over the last half decade only to have some very poor coaching usually bring my excitement to an abrupt halt. Quote

The guy who looks to be next in line was redshirted so we don't stunt his development? We see the talent we have recruited since our offense has gotten better take off this year as red shirt freshman? Everyone expects a quick fix but considering what he took over to what he has built, recruits are now starting to take notice. Quote

Rudy certainly would do much better with the current team and he current OL, but I'd still take Danny easily. If we don't open it up more though next year with a different QB my mind might change. Also ai think it will be important for both Trey and Feeney to be ready.....so that we aren't afraid to call some QB runs.... because we know we have another guy totally capable of coming in and running the offense. The major story line I think all off-season will be who is going to win the starting job....and who we bring in and how much improvement do wee see on the DL and OLB spots. 1 Quote

UND Football Fan Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 In my opinion. One similarity between Danny and Rudy is the reliance of a play concept. Danny we complain about the different versions of the short passing game, and Rudy I recall his use of different versions if the toss sweep run game. Quote

We all know Danny has been OC for five years. In that time frame Danny has made us a good offense. (Fringe top 20 overall scoring offense the last two years.) I know you want us to be elite after one year, like USD became this year but that's not how things work. It would be one thing if our previous OC retired or took a job elsewhere, but when the dude was fired it means you needed to build some things back up, which Danny did in his first three years to give us a good offense. Now that we have a solid base, recruits on that side of the ball our starting to take notice. You don't get recruits like Kaminski, Tai, Seidl, and others if you aren't doing something right. Recruiting is one of the most important things to building a team and over Danny's five years our recruiting has made noticeable improvements. Some of us talk about how many offers a kid has and I made a post a while back, that shows roughly 75% of this last year's freshman class and our incoming class this year all had at least one division 1 offer. Lastly, I want to touch on the notion that Danny can't coach offense in games against good competition. Last year we scored 29 against UNI, 48 on Missouri State when they were ranked #7, 35 on the road against YSU, 35 on SDSU!! This year the games that everyone brings up are Boise, SDSU, UNI and South Dakota. In the games against Boise, UNI and South Dakota, Tommy had a handful of plays that changed the game not in our favor. Against Boise he fumbles before half. Against UNI he fumbles on the opening drive deep in UNI territory. Against South Dakota he floats up a duck on a deep shot to Quincy that gets picked. These are all plays that I don't see our next QB making. We also moved the ball in all three of those games, so it wasn't like every drive was a 3 and out. I understand people are sick of waiting for us to take that next step. Some on here think our offense has lost it's shine, but to me it is more a product of Bubba not being able to take this team any further and our defense not improving that takes the shine off our program. Danny unlike Bubba has shown improvement in his time! 6 Quote

Yes, Pawlak is a big part of that, but who do you think was a key part of getting him on staff? We have Waletzko in the NFL. Kilty has some big time FBS offers. Again, it doesn't happen over night but you give a coach some time to have some success and look what happens. 1 Quote
