We struggle to recruit enough talent the way it is.  You think we'll do better when we have twice as many spots to fill?

Would you rather minimize portal departures and be same old same old or get absolutely gutted but a new guy comes in and builds it his way? Maybe it doesn’t work, but I’m taking the latter all day. Worth the risk, imo.

Agree 100% if we got a new guy, but that isn't happening anytime soon.

Per InForum.com:

... South Dakota State spends $8.8 million a year on football. North Dakota State is next at $6.41 million and the rest of the league goes as follows in millions: North Dakota $6.02, Missouri State $5.24, Southern Illinois $5.21, Illinois State $4.8, Youngstown State $4.71, South Dakota $4.45, Murray State $4.03 and Northern Iowa $3.8.

Note: SDSU's number includes debt service on stadium improvements.

This roster just lost to Indiana State. Not a single person that can’t be replaced

I would probably focus on defense here. The offense has been a doing a pretty solid job, though could use improvement. There are plenty of players I would not want to see hit the portal.

There are plenty of players that we wouldn't want to hit the portal. I think his point was.....we can't be afraid to make a change because we are afraid of losing guys to the portal in one off season.

Given the last couple of weeks, the picture, along with others saying it has been going on for a while....I'd rather blow things up and start over then continue this endless cycle of 5-7 wins we are in now.

Perfect world would be Bubba leaves,  we get a really good coach,  we win a championship the next year. That happened the last time he moved on from HC I believe.

There is no way any person in his position would just walk away and resign.

i wouldn’t.

There was a suggestion that the cost of the buyout and cost of recruiting a new coach would be 1 million.

How many good players could you buy…I mean NIL for that amount?

Does it matter how many good players you buy if leadership stays the same?

Those said good players, even if you could get them to agree to come here under current leadership, would then be taught minimal accountability and discipline; and those annual low expectations would then enter into those players’ mindset.

End result: more embarrassing losses to North Dakota State and South Dakota State, and ongoing consistent road woes.

It’s ridiculous that it’s taken us this long to actually truthfully consider what many, including myself, could see years ago; if you want positive change, then actually change.

Move on from Bubba and get a better leader of men.

Move on from the coach that is the one constant in all of this, and who doesn’t carry enough respect from his players to ever be a champion.

And "I felt we prepared well" regarding the Indiana State game. Every. Time.

Clearly he didn't prepare them well enough.

From past results bubba doesn’t know how to prepare a team for road games

he always says they concentrate on their team, maybe they should concentrate on what the other team does

And it's been going on his entire Sioux career - after over 10 years you would think a light would go on.  HIs deer in the headlights attitude is catchy.

People get worried about guys hitting the portal. Just think of it like a forest fire. The ground is more fertile afterward and allows for better growth to follow.

So you think bringing in a bunch of new guys who walked away from their old team and throwing them together is going to make for a cohesive championship team?
