I wondered that as well when I saw that news.
Pretty late in the season for sure, but anything is possible if the Flyers want him in their system right away.

He was part of the DeAngelo trade that the league blocked this summer, so it might have more to do with that. But if he signs no complaints here.

CC could surprise a few teams in the NCHC this season.  They have a good core returning and a great goalie. 
A really good recruiting class as well.

I just remember them having little to no offense last year. They’re fine in other areas but I just don’t know if they will have enough offense to move up that much.

McKown accounted for over 25% of all of CC’s scoring last year. They definitely need to find more guys who can score.

He did play 4 years at Merrimack, so I don't feel sorry for him not getting a 5th year even though he missed one season.

Nothing seems unrealistic anymore. If you had told me in, say, 2010 that eventually the B1G would include Rutgers, Maryland, USC, UCLA, Oregon, and Washington (but not Iowa State), I would not have believed you. Now? Ellifino.
