Not sure how many secret spots there can be in a city the size of Grand Forks.  But, if you are looking for a small "dive bar" atmophere with great food that is far from bar food, Parrots Cay is my pick.  I mean, how many places can you get crawdads and julbalaya and then go next door to fill up your tank and grab some smokes!

Want a restaurant to die? Have me eat there pre-game Saturdays -- Shangri-La, Grizzlies, (the Chinese joint on Columbia that was staff from Shangri-La), Wild Hog, Scotty's.

Something really cheap on the wallet American legion taco night super good

Popolinos pizza. Blue Moose spin dip. Schneider tacos from Red Pepper. Steak at Helix. Pita Pit (hopefully, it’s still good).

Speedway was always under the radar before and after UND hockey games. 

That’s all that comes top of mind.
