  1. New transfer, middle blocker from Montana State https://fightinghawks.com/news/2023/5/2/womens-volleyball-volleyball-adds-kaycee-o-dell-from-montana-state.aspx?mibextid=Zxz2cZ
  2. I think it all depends on what the recruits are looking for. Minneapolis has the draw of a big city, but not every athlete is looking for that. There are so many factors going into recruiting including the players preference. Gophers have lots of big name sports that fans get divided over. Their football/volleyball are well known and big sports that divide attention. There are also so many other schools in the twin cities that people root for. If a recruit is looking for a big city, then Grand Forks is not exactly the spot for them, but if they want to be in a smaller town with a passion for the sport, Grand Forks is it HANDS DOWN!!! UND is a hockey school, that is what we are known for. They have the top facilities in the school and the entire city is invested in the success of the program. That is a draw for some recruits, knowing you are a ‘top dog’ at your school and won’t be second place to football/basketball.
  3. Does anyone know when the spring schedule will be posted? Been seeing other teams post theirs. Might try and attend one if in GF
  4. Jordan Vail is no longer on staff
  5. Instagram post shows a new coach hired. Joe Davidson
  6. I think the upcoming season will tell a lot. 6 new recruits coming in making it a full roster. These girls will only be freshman so who knows who will start or play but we hopefully will see some big moves coming from the team.
  7. Possible Roster for Next season: Setters: Peyton Sewell, Elizabeth Norris, Teagan Timperly, Kortney Carney Outside Hitters: Lauren Perugini, Olivia Edlund, McCallister Gayle, Ashlyn Olsen, Elizabeth Norris, Katy Riviere, Paige Barber, Maddy Hornyak Middles: Trinity Blackwood, Maddie Lipetsky, Sophia Ortquist, Erika Lindqvist, Marissa Stockman Liberos/Defensive Specialists: Kortney Carney, Isabelle McCormick, Skylar Darr, Kennedy Nelson, Maddy Hornyak, Jocelyn Juleson, Olivia De Jong Currently Unknown on who is staying and going, graduate students are up in the air, anyone have confirmation on if Stockman/Sewell/Carney/Lindqvist still have eligibility? Pribyl and Ward were the only ones celebrated on senior night so I am wondering what that means
  8. Forgot the setter from Minnesota, Teagan Timperly.
  9. Looks like next year we will have: Setters: Peyton Sewell, Elizabeth Norris, Kortney Carney Outside Hitters: Lauren Perugini, Olivia Edlund, McCallister Gayle, Ashlyn Olsen, Elizabeth Norris, Katy Riviere, Paige Barber, Maddy Hornyak Middles: Trinity Blackwood, Maddie Lipetsky, Sophia Ortquist, Erika Lindqvist, Marissa Stockman Liberos/Defensive Specialists: Kortney Carney, Isabelle McCormick, Skylar Darr, Kennedy Nelson, Maddy Hornyak, Jocelyn Juleson, Olivia De Jong Currently Unknown on who is staying and going, graduate students are up in the air, anyone have confirmation on if Stockman/Sewell/Carney/Lindqvist still have eligibility? 10. According to instagram, there is another recruit for 2023. @kenzel on Instagram. Looks like we will have a full roster next year. She is a libero/defensive specialist from Colorado https://www.ncsasports.org/womens-volleyball-recruiting/colorado/broomfield/broomfield-high-school/kennedy-nelson1
  11. No idea. I would not even know how to find that out. Would assume they usually get there early day of game.
  12. Looks like replacements for Ward, Carney, and Stockman.
  13. Looks like 3 recruits posted so far for next year. A Middle, a Libero, and an Outside. As I was typing, there appears to be someone from the Canadian National Excellence Program. (No idea what that is, laugh out loud) Big recruits for next year.
  14. Either way, I am staying home. Cannot be driving in weather like predicted in my old beater.
  15. University is closed tomorrow, what does that mean for the game?
  16. Sorry might be projecting a bit. Have been spending too much time on these forums and for all sports I think we can get too negative about the players or outcomes at times, and can show our team some love. Just trying to give the girls all some love. I love this team, this facility, and this University. I may not know the most about volleyball but I noticed more that sometimes a good game is a good game. There are good losses and bad losses, there can always be improvements for sure but I think these types of forums can get a little negative. What if any of the players read negative comments? We have fans that love and back them up always, including you. Sorry if this came across as rude, as I said. Might be projecting and just feeling protective at the moment. laugh out loud
  17. I like to give credit where credit is due. And really praise these girls for all their hard work. This season is better than I could have hoped from last year to now. Watching their faces as the smile through games, the team chemistry is completely shifted from before. The girls fight. They have a drive to win and you can see it. We competed with a top team, we were close. We beat the Bison. Norris does an amazing job in defense, setting, and blocking. Amazing. Sewell does an amazing job setting. Carney fights hard as a libero. Lipitski works along the net and does a great job blocking and hitting. Ward has some amazing range as a hitter. Olsen is probably the best hitter on the team (in my opinion, when she gets going) and she has 2 more years. Stockman is a big force, both hitting and blocking. McCormick and Hornyack do amazing defensively. Love all these girls and wish them the best,.
  18. Ward played well, and has been all season. Why call for better hitters, we all want the team to be as good as possible and have amazing players but why not give the ladies more credit and appreciate that we did get grad transfers who contribute and play well. Along with a young roster who will continue to grow. This team will just get better with time and and settling in throughout the years but we should be grateful for our current roster’s talent level and record. We aren’t going to go from last to first in a single year. Try to be positive about the players (especially Carney)
  19. I think a back row attacker would really benefit the team. Seeing USD’s use of the back row was really cool. Overall great game, not sure we should be too harsh on any of the players. This is an insane improvement from years past and the fact the ladies even got to 5 sets against a top team is amazing. I think they played their hearts out, maybe not as consistently as fans could want but a great game with a lot of spirit. Could not be more excited for Saturday, pack the Betty!
  20. Still blown away with the Denver game. It was so back and forth, I think our Lady Hawks can beat them for sure. Assuming we will have a couple more wins (UMKC, SDSU, Denver, NDSU, USD??) Where would that put us.
  21. I think they can pull out more wins at the end of this conference run. Next week is going to be a fun one with USD and NDSU. Need to pack the Betty for that Bison game.
  22. What about the graduate students (Stockman, Ward) or seniors? (Sewell, Carney)
  23. How long do they have left with Covid year?
  24. Hopefully we will get more fans showing out to the Betty Sioux Center this week for some home games. I am excited to get a chance to see the team play in person again. Hopefully the ladies are having a week of hard work to bring into this next phase of conference play.
  25. Sad ending. What the heck happened in sets 2 and 4? Dissapointing to say the least but with WIU and St Thomas this weekend at home it’ll be a nice weekend.
