The ENGELSTAD jerseys on the ice are it for me. Over the top hero-worship. I appreciate his financial gift to UND as much as anyone else - absolutely amazing - but this isn’t the ENGELSTAD UNIVERSITY hockey program. We can appreciate his financial gifts and his love for the hockey program but it just seems to me like UND and the hockey program are puppets to Kerry Engelstad. The jerseys themselves are cool and designed nice but put Vegas '22 on the back like they did for Nashville last year. You are correct, we probably wouldn't have an amazing arena without him and I'm fine with the arena being call the Ralph Engelstad Arena (has a nice ring to it) but it's the rest of the bullcrap that has come with it. The Vegas destination games are to stroke her ego and to let Vegas casino owners know that she's still around. Out of all the destination games that have gone on in the past ten years, there is no reason we have gone to Vegas twice. If we are playing these destination games to expand our footprint and expose new people to UND hockey, why go to the same place twice?
