Housing probably limited the number of students who could return to the dorms to between 100-200 for the year which is a very small amount when you think about it. And those that did return, might have been moved to The Verge to make room for the freshman that were moving in. Quote

Fall 2024, the #1 topic was the increase in size of the freshman class and the availability of dorm space. Fall 2025, 14% increase in Freshman class (based on the photo, clearly more on-campus as well vs Fall 2024). Nothing on trouble with dorm availability. Two-part question. (1) Can someone explain this? Were there dorms for example not being utilized that are now open? How close are they actually to being 100% capacity? (2) Is there any plan for new dorms if they are near capacity? Funny thing with momentum, it can change. UND appears to be in the zone right now. Hate to see it being limited by dorm availability. (X2 as it seems likely the full-time on-line subsidies will be looked at by the state). As far as I know every dorm, except for Fulton which was taken offline a few years ago, is as full as they can be while keeping the fire marshal happy. As for room availability, it can easily be forcing more doubles and only giving singles out as needed, capping the number of people who can return to the residence halls for their 2nd/3rd/4th year of college, etc. Last year, Housing was probably caught off guard with the number of people who wanted to live on campus still and the incoming freshman class, whereas this year they were planning for it and were prioritizing the incoming class or at least those that took the time to plan ahead and request the room assignment as soon as possible and not wait until the last minute. If there was plan for a new dorm(s) to build, my guess would be on the site of the Walsh/Squires/Bek/Hancock site. However, parking for on campus students as seen from the 2024-25 year was tight, and that area doesn't have a lot of parking to begin with. I would bet if UND can get the money to relocate the College of Nursing to be next to the Medical School that would free up the area for a dorm block with parking for the dorms being nearby. 1 Quote

AJS Posted yesterday at 01:53 PM Posted yesterday at 01:53 PM When the official 2025 numbers come out next week, I'll search for these specific totals. They tell an incredibly important story. The huge FR class of 2024 helped the On Campus Undergrad total increase by 9% over the previous year, with Total Full-Time increasing by 7%. This helps answer the question, is the huge increases On-line or On-Campus? What's exciting too is if the 2024 / 2025 FR classes are the new normal, with slight increases, the 2026 & 2027 FR classes will be replacing really small classes. Where could enrollment be two years from now when everything levels off? Year Campus Totals # Credits / FTE 2024 Full-Time (Undergrad) 7715 114213 Total Full-Time 9591 139303 Year Part Time # Credits / FTE 2024 Undergrad 3318 19805 Total Part-Time 5428 30535 Year Campus Totals # Credits / FTE 2023 Full-Time (Undergrad) 7075 104084 Total Full-Time 8919 128283 Year Part Time # Credits / FTE 2023 Undergrad 3141 18564 Total Part-Time 5253 29080 1 Quote
