Cratter Posted Monday at 03:12 AM Posted Monday at 03:12 AM The deep state was pushing hard for Schmidt. So It'll be Schmidt. Likely be announced soon. Like miller said "late tonight" And it's currently getting late... Quote

SiouxFan100 Posted Monday at 03:15 AM Posted Monday at 03:15 AM Personally I don’t like deep state talk 2 Quote
UND Football Fan Posted Monday at 03:16 AM Posted Monday at 03:16 AM If it is Schmidt, I wonder if there is a team meeting tonight introducing him as coach. 1 Quote
Popular Post iramurphy Posted Monday at 03:16 AM Popular Post Posted Monday at 03:16 AM UND has their new HC. I’m not sure when they will announce. Let’s see how quickly he can assemble his staff and get to work. 9 Quote

forksandspoons Posted Monday at 03:20 AM Posted Monday at 03:20 AM Schmidt would be a home run hire IMO. Winner as a player, has worked his way up consistently in coaching, almost winning a natty last year, and has coached under some really great coaches. Hopefully he can bring some coaches or players from the past few years in! 3 Quote

Looked back at Schmidt’s last game at UND in 2019; playoff game lost by UND’s offense, only scored six points. If Schmidt gets the job, I’d like to see all those recent FBS connections be truthful and turned into a big-time new coaching staff here at UND. We’ll see … 3 hours ago, UND-FB-FAN said: If Schmidt gets the job, I hope he does amazing with his first head coaching opportunity, and his experiences over the past five years help elevate UND to the next level. Bottomline is we need to start competing with, and beating, the likes of NDSU and SDSU. Time to go to work. Build the staff the right way and crush the portal. Time to ACTUALLY end the monopoly in the Dakotas. Get it done. Go Hawks. 3 Quote

Popular Post SiouxFan100 Posted Monday at 03:24 AM Popular Post Posted Monday at 03:24 AM Thanks again to all the existing coaches who held things together knowing the future maybe wasn’t looking good. I feel for them and their families. Coaching sucks sometimes . 6 Quote
UND Football Fan Posted Monday at 03:25 AM Posted Monday at 03:25 AM I really don’t care the specifics of defensive fronts. I just want some better athletes on defense to bring pressure, be able to TACKLE IN SPACE, and break on the ball in coverage! 2 Quote

Have to have good players, number one, but development via strength/conditioning and coaching the fundamentals of pass coverage and tackling matters. Need to call a good game. Lots of pieces to come together but don’t take much to be better than the mess of a defense we had in 2024… Quote

If he were moving from D2 or different FCS program he may bring guys from his present staff. Tougher to get FBS coordinators to drop down cuz of less $. I would consider Freuchte as OC cuz of relationships with players and it can help with the transition. He would be able to advise regarding position coaches who players respect and which coaches may be great recruiters. I would guess he will have a lot of new guys. 2 Quote
Cratter Posted Monday at 03:28 AM Posted Monday at 03:28 AM Still weird to me Schmidt only ever been the head coach of high school football. Quote

Would consider keeping Fruechte, but if Schmidt can hire a capable coach from the DeBoer offensive coaching tree to be OC, you take it; Fruechte could be WR coach or co-OC. DeBoer does a lot of co-coordinator titles, maybe Schmidt will do that here. Quote
Cratter Posted Monday at 03:30 AM Posted Monday at 03:30 AM Tom Miller not happy SiouxSports broke the news about Schmidt before he did? 1 Quote
SiouxFan100 Posted Monday at 03:30 AM Posted Monday at 03:30 AM I probably won’t trust anything but an official announcement from UND or the Herald but some here must know for sure who it is. I wouldn’t think there would be any harm to disclose now. Quote

UND Football Fan Posted Monday at 03:31 AM Posted Monday at 03:31 AM Hopefully Schmidt (Mandan native) can be to us, like the other Mandan native Ron Erhardt, who coached high school and then college, was for NDSU! 1 Quote
