I've heard good things about him but....... Wyoming is 2-9 this year with one game remaining against 8-3 Wash St and are 17 point dogs. Probably end 2-10 1 Quote

All Bemidji does is quietly win games and factor into the D2 playoffs. Bemidji does not spend the money or have the resources relative to the rest of the conference that UND has in the MVFC. Their budget is about 75% (or less) of the top NSIC programs (according to a quick google search). The coaches don't seem to care...they just do their jobs and win football games consistently. If I lived in Grand Forks next fall I'd probably make a few trips east. It's a cool experience watching games on the shore of the lake (even if the stadium isn't very nice). 1 Quote

UND Football Fan Posted November 25 Posted November 25 Unlike North Dakota’s weather our head coaches rarely change. I hope Bubba is staying because the players believe in him. I thought on another thread Bubba talked of poor tackling this past season (which has truth) but you also need to recruit/hit portal with some guys that are physical and some edge that love violent contact. (It’s ok to take a risk, nothing wrong being a lifer on Study (Knob) Table (not sure if they still have that)) Sorry for all the parentheses. Quote

Ok, we'll go with that - I was going to correct my post to say no changes in results but that wouldn't be true either - results are getting worse. If Hockey Bubs can't parlay our hockey facilities into Frozen 4 teams I don't think Football Bubba will improve his program one bit. It's all about the product on the field or in the rink. 1 Quote

We’ll see if the facilities win the games. Didn’t happen in 2024, that’s for d*mn sure. Coaches and players (student-athletes) are more important in my opinion. Also, fans won’t show up to the Alerus Center or travel to the away games because there are nice facilities on campus, but rather will do so because THE TEAM is doing well and making supporters proud. My prediction for 2025 is a 6-6 season and again no playoffs. Diehard supporters will hope for the best, but expect the worst given reality of the situation. The expectations are too low. Just want to make the playoffs are the expectations I guess (per Bubba in press conference today) with no championships, and it shows. Expectations and mindset go a long way, and Bubba Schweigert has voided the program and University of potential greatness. Quote

Fans frustrations can change shift to shift, period to period and game to game. Our facilities are as good as it gets but no longer the advantage we had 20yrs ago. I’m not so sure we won’t be pretty tough by playoffs. Let’s get everyone back before giving up. They’ve shown flashes of promise especially game 1 against BU. As usual, goaltending must improve and be consistent. However, Just my gut feeling. More than other sports, I dont think the best team always wins. FB is different. There are a million obstacles to overcome to fix this now. We can’t afford another season like this and I fear portal losses and decommitments are threatening to put us further behind. Quote
Longtime fan Posted November 26 Posted November 26 Better facilities will not make bubba a better in game coach . Und is stuck in Averageville with him. 1 Quote
MafiaMan Posted November 26 Posted November 26 Tulsa fired their head coach yesterday before he finished 2 full seasons at the school. Yes, the storied Golden Hurricane program even knows when enough is enough. Meanwhile, in Grand Forks, year 12 should FINALLY be the one where North Dakota turns the corner. 1 1 Quote

I responded to a question about Armacost supporting athletics. The University Admin/Alumni/Fans/Supporters have provided the facilities and resources to be a successful FB program. I know what Bubba said at the press conference but I’ve never heard the president, nor the AD vocalizing limiting our expectations to making the playoffs. We can talk about expectations all we want but until we improve recruiting, retention, and performance on the field, we will struggle to meet even limited expectations. I’m not sure anyone can predict next years chances until we know for sure who will be coaching, who we lose or gain in the portal, and what happens to our committed recruits regardless of who the head coach is. 1 Quote
