How do the Fighting Hawks pull off the college football upset of the year?

Recommended Posts

I know its a long, long, long shot but had to ask........

I say a couple first half Husky turnovers(how about a Harris pick 6?).

3-headed RB monster catches UW off-guard and UND runs for 150 yards.

Ketteringham is great and completes 75% with zero TO's including a bomb to Izzy.

Schmidt comes up with enough wild pressure packages to keep UW off its stride.

UND 28-21

Need some turn overs and turn them into points.

Make all extra points and field goals.

Great special teams play

throw in some good fortune and just maybe.

Food poisoning from the cafeteria?

Maybe some bad fish from Pike's Place Fish Market?

Lock the Husky players in their locker room for 3 1/2 quarter?

All of the above, forcing UW to play their intramural flag football squad?

But seriously, win the TO battle.

Run effectively and win the TOP battle.

Score more points.

You wouldn’t expect a bunch of west coast liberals to be Fighting Sioux Forever types

right?!?! shocking that some on their message board get upset that we changed our name. Always some people that hate political correctness.

At least they didn’t call us the Bison.

Bison is a type of burger, not a name.

While I will buy hawks gear, and know the Sioux name is gone, I will never deter someone from calling us Fighting Sioux. Love it!

Yes, I have. Been a Sioux football fan and Bison football fan for a long time. Not a die hard, but a fan

How does it happen?

Every things has to break exactly right

Rudolph misses the flight and "chuck the pigskin" is signed up for a game.

For UND to be in this game late:

1. Be clean: no turnovers, and probably have to be at least +2 in the category.
2. Be clean: no long plays against on specials teams, and no wasted opportunities.
3. Be clean: Ketteringham doesn't have to wash his jersey and stays upright.
4. Be clean: smart offense, throw aways instead of losses, an eye toward field position, time of possession mindset
5. Be clean: assignment sharp; wrap-up tackles; and a couple Cugat's generated by the defense wouldn't hurt.

Drastically win the turnover battle. Protect the ball on offense, force and recover fumbles on defense, grab a couple picks. That is the basic recipe for all games, big or small.

Stop tying to make Cugat’s happen
