They just went into Brookings and put 600 some yards on SDSU and beat them. In most of the polls they are ranked way behind SDSU. SDSU is I and 2. How does that work? Well poly is in the BSC no respect. I agree they should be ranked.

On the one hand, this is not the highly ranked MSU team of years past. On the other hand it bring us to 2-2 with close losses to a, now ranked, Stony Brook, and a FBS Bowling Green. I really don't care if we are ranked or not, I figure as long as this team does what it needs to do, especially with the schedule we have, the rankings will take care of themselves. Just curious what others think. Better start caring about the rankings. We dug ourself a hole by losing the first two. We dropped a little bit more after our USD win too. We need to go on a big run to get back in the conversation otherwise we will screw ourselves over just like last year.

Right, I didn't mean they are unimportant. I just meant that if we win the games we need to going forward, the actual ranking will happen. It may not happen with 1 win or 2 wins, but with Montana St. on the road and Cal-Poly at home, there is an opportunity to get some pretty quality wins. Just focus on getting 1 win at a time and the rankings will fall into place.

I agree, the Athlon poll seems to be more accurate based upon what has actually occurred this year, not just based upon conference, past history, and how good they thought teams were suppose to be this year.

Did they realize that our featured All-America back was out for virtually the entire game, too? We just had better depth. Popular Post geaux_sioux
Just remember everyone else looks at our games and either sees that the other team found a way to lose or were just too much for us to overcome. We haven't won a game yet this year, the other team just ran out of time.

siouxfan512
Gotta love the MVFC team. Illinois state is on a 3 game losing streak, got it handed to them by NDSU, and only drops 2 spots to remain in the polls at 21. 2-3 and 0-2 in conference. Sorry, they should have dropped out. As for not acknowledging Santiago, its a little ridiculous, but not all that surprising. While UND is gaining momentum, and more fans at the games, it'll still take a while to gain more respect. Stupid, but it is what it is. If this team plays to its potential, they can win out. I'm not saying they will, but they certainly have that capability to, given the schedule and the way this team is progressing.

I'm pretty worried about Sac State though, they just had a huge confidence boost with a dramatic win and it will be their homecoming. As with every Cali team they will have enough athletes to beat us.

I am hoping they will come out a bit flat off of an emotional win, but the same could be said for us. Hopefully the late start doesn't impact our guys too much either. We need a fast start like last week, but without the turnovers. Lets put the game away early. Yes, I know they came back against Mt. St, but I'd love to see our back ups play the 4th Q. Just look at cal poly- they dominated (661 yards) a top ten team sdsu in sd and then dropped 42 and a W on top ten montana- two top ten wins!!! - a then 3-1 record and their only loss was in OT to a fbs team yet sit below both montana and sdsu!?!?! Wtf! They've made it clear that the only thing that matters is the name on jersey and belonging to a "certain" conference.

Agreed, I'd like to think it will even out as the year goes on, but then they will just say the MVFC beats up on themselves, justifying high rankings for all. Obviously they have some really good teams. I don't think anyone would deny that. BUT they definitely rank some teams that don't need to be ranked, and over rank some teams as well. I know SDSU won this past weekend, but they had no business being ranked as high as they were going into the weekend. They were a 1-3 team, winning against Drake. Pretty obnoxious stuff. Cal Poly lucky to be ranked at all too, all they've done is beat the #10 and #12 teams. Vaunted MVFC defense really shut down their run game but they got lucky is all.
