SiouxVolley Posted October 23, 2018 Posted October 23, 2018 Mont St fired, demoted and promoted offensive coaches today. UND would make mid season changes too according to posters here. https://mtstandard.com/sports/college/big-sky-conference/montana-state-university/matt-miller-named-new-montana-state-offensive-coordinator-in-midseason/article_c241064b-e2f2-522a-b9f0-a8cb10143743.html Quote

SiouxVolley Posted October 23, 2018 Posted October 23, 2018 Would any one be up for a game at the new Allianz field in St Paul for the MLS team ? Know NDSU has a Target field date with Butler next year. A US Bank game would be much better, as well as a game against Minny at the TCF Bank Stadium would seem much more appealing. But with a new smaller venue soon to be open, possibilities abound. https://www.mnufc.com/stadium/ Quote

The biggest factor in NDSU's success is the refusal of Gopher football coaches(starting with Brewster in 2007) to appreciate MN and other regional talent. This allowed the Bison to accumulate a very high level of talent. Credit the Bison for grabbing that opportunity and building "the" FCS Football Program in the country. Just my opinion. 1 Quote

Don’t think NDSU would get a game at TCF even if they went FBS. Their fan base will travel to see odious teams like non-scholarship Butler because they have nothing else. Think UND could if we went FBS. Rather see it at US Bank Stadium. The Allianz Stadium might work for UNI or USD, but would like to get a bigger traveling fan base first. At least Allianz could be used in August or September. Quote

Cratter Posted October 24, 2018 Posted October 24, 2018 NDSU probably testing the water with Target Field. If successful, I could see them paying a lower level FBS team to play next time. Could this ultimately lead to a push for a new Fargodome? Quote

There are not any G5 schools that would come to the Twin Cities for NDSU. No Ill plays games in Chicago time to time but they wouldn’t move a home game elsewhere unless it was major bucks (>$1 mill). A school like Boise St often plays neutral site games with big paydays, but mainly against P5’s. Unless Burgum wants to donate his fortune to a new stadium (He seems more interested in building downtown Fargo) don’t think their is another donor capable. Sanford would build for Augustana before he helped NDSU again. Fargo paying for the flood diversion will take years. Quote

How does a gimmick game 240 miles from their campus lead to a push for a new stadium? On top of that, ticket prices are actually quite pretty cheap considering and they aren't even selling seats the top two levels in left and center field. Quote

This game is targeting twin cities and area fans who dont get to Fargo and dont have tickets. Plus the potential payout could be quite substantial. Quote

Plenty of alumni down here, and it would be easier to watch a game over make the drive all the way to GF every year. Quote

As SV said, Fargo is sales taxed out with flood protection being in the works . If there are donor or donors who might make this happen we’d likely have heard of them and we haven’t Quote

With the financial trouble Fargo is in no way would voters approve a bigger and very expensive stadium. Mayor Mahoney was complaining how much the city had to fork over when Trump visited. Plus add the price of the diversion and the cost of housing increasing. They are raising rates for storm sewers (just got the letter on Monday), so it would be up to NDSU to raise the money....good luck with that. Quote

I thought when Great Plains was sold to Microsoft, Doug's brother had a larger stake in Great Plains than Doug did? His brother (name escapes me) is a UND Grad and on or was on the UND foundation board. Might see an on campus stadium in GF before a new one in FGO??? Quote

That's Doug's cousin, not brother. And yes, his stake in Great Plains was larger than Doug's. Quote
