SWSiouxMN Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 It does, but they still went 5-2 on the road trip (it would have been better to have gone 6-1, but oh well). Now would be a good time for one of those win 8 out of 10 games at home streaks. Quote

There isn't a rule against running Rogers out there 3 days in a row.... Completely agree. Terrible move by Rocco.....again. Yesterday sets up today. No reason to take out Berrios yesterday when he is cruising.....instead you use Rodgers. And he is available to pitch today, so close out the damn game with him.... 1 Quote

No way Dyson should've been pitching when he didn't arrive until half way through the game. He took out Berrios at around 80 pitches last night through 7 instead of letting him try to finish things off himself and with the way he looked last night he probably would've finished it without going over 100 pitches. Poppen makes the game close in the 9th and Rocco goes to Rogers in a game he should've never had to pitch in. Today they pulled Pineda after 6 at just 80 pitches and he was pitching well. Knowing you don't want to use Rogers and Dyson just arrived why wouldn't you try to get another inning out of Pineda and then use Duffey for the 8th instead of the 7th and let Romo close it instead of pitching the 8th like he did. 1 Quote

So an idea: yesterday, you gave Poppen his moment in the 8th, why didn't you throw May out there to start the 9th? He needs to get his confidence back up Or Thorpe? Or Shashak? There were so many other options that could have been used yesterday and today. Hell could have given Thorpe the 9th today so we can see how he can handle pressure situations. I've turned the page on this but yes, Rocco needs to make better decisions and needs to start learning. Its 100 games into the season, time to grow up as a manager a little bit. Lets hope it doesn’t cost them a game in the standings tonight Quote
SWSiouxMN Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 Looks like the lead will stay at 3 going into the Royals series. Perez, Odo, and Gibby: Time to step up and build off of your recent performances. Quote
Wilbur Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 Ten game homestand ahead. Three with KC: Got to sweep. Three with Atlanta: Two of three. Four with the Tribe: Split. Seven of ten is a great homestand. If they can win 5 of the next six a split with Cleveland is okay. Anything more than a split with Cleveland is huge, anything less..... Quote
Wilbur Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 I understand Perez isnt going to go a bunch of innings, but bringing in Thorpe to face a bunch of right handed hitters makes zero sense. I mean maybe that's a good time for Dyson Rocco? In the 6th inning..... Quote
SWSiouxMN Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 May couldn't have pitched the 8th? He only threw one pitch! Quote
UNDBIZ Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Dyson is snakebit. Hopefully that early management error doesn't ruin his whole season. Quote
Wilbur Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 My goodness.....if Dyson can't get guys out its over.....like zero chance at the postseason..... Quote
SWSiouxMN Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Meanwhile, Romo has been a straight boss since coming here. 1 Quote
Wilbur Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 For whatever reason the Royals flat out play their best ball against the Twins. Perez wasn't good, Dyson wasn't good, Thorpe needs to pitch ahead..... I'll say this. Romo is gonna give up his fair share of bombs, but the guy trusts his stuff and goes at guys. Quote
Wilbur Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Buxton to IL....Pineda to IL.... Cave up.....Littell up...... Hopefully Cave is just used as a pinch runner. Quote
SWSiouxMN Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 It doesn't sound like this is going to be a 10 day trip for Byron. If he is going to be gone for a month: Might be time to be aggressive and call this guy up: service time be damned. http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?player_id=666135#/career/R/hitting/2019/ALL Quote

Losing Buxton again hurts, his defense and speed from the 9 spot are things they haven't been able to even somewhat replicate, his intangible value will be missed...again. Quote
Wilbur Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Injuries be darned.....gotta play on. Two for two to begin this homestand. Go get a sweep today and head into Monday with Berrios on the hill against the Braves. 1 Quote
SWSiouxMN Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 So Smeltzer is starting today and Dyson heads to the IL. i guess they will push everyone back a day now? Quote

Yup, Ode on Monday, then Berrios Tuesday. Big spot for Smeltzer today. Fully rested bullpen. Give the team 5 innings and hand it over. Quote
