dmksioux Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Fellow Big Sky team, Montana Grizzlies, are hosting the College Football kick off game next year. They are playing the NDSU Bisons on ESPN. Nice to see FCS and the Big Sky get some national attention. http://www.grandforksherald.com/content/ndsu-montana-open-2015-college-football-season-espn 1 Quote
bincitysioux Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 2nd year in a row that ESPN has showcased the premier league in the FCS for this event. Quite an honor for the Big Sky. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Wasn't Montana on NDSU's schedule the week after UND and now it opens the season? I was hoping NDSU would look past UND to Montana. Not so much now. Quote
bincitysioux Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 I would prefer we have their full attention when we shock them in their dome........ 2 Quote
2011BisonAlumni Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Nice to see NDSU getting yet another game on national TV. This is awesome for recruiting. Quote
UNDColorado Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 So anyway, good to see Big Sky in this game again! Quote
jdub27 Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 This is awesome for recruiting. It will be a great showcase for Montana. The atmosphere at WaGrizz is second to none with the crowd and view. Quote
Cratter Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Does ESPN have a love affair with the Big Sky? Back to Back televised college kickoffs on ESPN at Big Sky Stadiums. Quote
homer Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 I think they do. It's a big deal to have a home game televised on ESPN. Quote
CMSioux Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Nice to see NDSU getting yet another game on national TV. This is awesome for recruiting. What good could it do you already get every recruit you really want? Quote
jdub27 Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Wonder if ESPN is testing the waters with the Big Sky, looking for a group of schools to help fill future programming as the P5 all continue start up their own networks? I could have swore I read somewhere on the internet that if ESPN does something two years in a row, that is most definitely the reason for it. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 The Big Sky app / Big Sky TV shows that the conference has the infrastructure to produce games and get them where they need to be (internet or satellite up link). If ESPN can get content for little to no investment it'll catch their eye. Quote
Sioux68 Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 This is a big deal for the conference and fcs football. The criteria seems to be 1) 2 top teams 2) top notch fan base Not many good non conference games period but this is a home run. Quote
2011BisonAlumni Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 NDSU was offered this game last year and turned it down due to having the Iowa State game the next week. I wouldn't call it having a love affair with the Big Sky. NDSU and Montana are two of the elite programs in the FCS which is why this particular game is being televised. Quote

MafiaMan Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Eastern Washington doesn't have a top notch fan base. But it's got THIS! Quote
NDSU grad Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 The Big Sky app / Big Sky TV shows that the conference has the infrastructure to produce games and get them where they need to be (internet or satellite up link). If ESPN can get content for little to no investment it'll catch their eye. But do all Big Sky venues have the capability to showcase a game the way ESPN wants it to be viewed, i.e. HD cameras, multiple camera angles, etc.? I'm guessing ESPN will bring their own crew and equipment to Washington-Grizzly Stadium next year, so the investment will be the same as if they were going anywhere else. Quote

UND-FB-FAN Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Funny how uniformed some fans are... ESPN FCS Kickoff Games: Big Sky: 2 MVFC: 1 Sorry Quote
choyt3 Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Funny how uniformed some fans are... I've seen plenty of jerseys at football, hockey, and basketball games, but never a full uniform. Quote
bison73 Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Doubtful it was offered last year. Good try though. Yes it was offered. Gt turned it down as it would have meant changing the schedule and we would of had two weeks in a row with not playing someone. Quote
