MafiaMan
So....WI? Either AZ schools? Not much left to pick from. That's the problem, isn't it? Does Wisconsin deserve a bid after getting beat 59-0 in its conference title game? Arizona also got worked over by Oregon. And they beat Arizona State. Honestly, this season, I think the playoffs should include six teams - Alabama and Oregon get a bye in Round 1. FSU plays Baylor and Ohio State plays TCU. Problem solved. I don't care if gfhockey was QB'ing the Buckeyes that day - that loss absolutely destroys the rest of their body of work.

Simple question The Big 12 commish basically was quoted as saying Baylor and TCU are equal heading to the committee. This was a death sentence to both. So by default OSU is #4. SiouxScore
OK, let's try this on for size...an 8 team playoff: Alabama, Oregon, Florida State, Ohio State, TCU, and Baylor are all IN. Who are your other two selections? Michigan State and the last spot is pretty tough and would probably come down to Miss St. and Ole Miss for me. MafiaMan
Michigan State and the last spot is pretty tough and would probably come down to Miss St. and Ole Miss for me. Wow! So now a team with THREE losses on its resumé including a 30-0 defeat at the hands of Arkansas is STILL good enough to be in an 8-team playoff? Yes, but opening up the doors to a 3-loss team certainly brings in a whole Christmas wish-list of additional candidates...

Agreed, would be really tough if it was an 8 team playoff this year to pick #8.
iluvdebbies
The Big 12 shot itself in the foot by not declaring a "champion". Co-champs will kill the chance of either TCU or Baylor getting in. Baylor beat TCU...but co-champs is warm and fuzzy. Now both will be out. MafiaMan
Regardless of what happens, it's absolutely amazing how quickly TCU and Baylor have established themselves as Big XII powers. Oklahoma and Texas have run that conference for years (along with Nebraska, of course)...Gary Patterson and Art Briles are excellent coaches. Oxbow6
#1 Bama #2 Oregon #3 FSU #4 OSU Neither of the co-champs of Big 12 are in. When the Commish of the Big 12 can't declare at definite champ with no title game to determine a true champ, this is what happens. This conclusion wasn't complicated IMO. Feff
Just for funsies and as a bit of a conspiracy theory... Did Wisconsin tank the game against Ohio State on purpose to get them into the top four? You have to think the money coming from potentially two bowl games would be nice for the conference. Wisco had no chance to get in and didn't even look like they were putting up a fight yesterday. Just throwing it out there

So the solution would have been to have Rice and SMU as members of the Big XII and re-play a game that's already been played to determine a conference champion. Got it. Ley's try this: take Indiana and Purdue out of the Big 10 and don't play a Wisconsin vs Ohio State championship game. All of a sudden, the Buckeyes aren't worth of final four consideration? P5...the 5 in that stands for five conferences. 4 of those conferences actually had a determined champion on the field. One did not due to it's co-champ BS and lack of title game. Actually not surprised TCU fell behind Baylor due to head to head. MM = King of Hypotheticals!
