Mariucci
Never mind Mariucci. I found a video that shows the start of the altercation (after the initial penalty) and yes, clearly a Gopher player was surrounded and being closely escorted by three Badger players. That certainly justifies other Gopher players coming to his aid. It does not justify leaving the bench or going 2 on 1 on a Badger player, but things happen quickly at such times. I'm pretty sure Letteiri left the bench because Skjei was coming out of the penalty box and heading to the bench and Letteiri would replace him. But as Skjei got near the bench that's when the hit happened so Skjei immediately went to Bristedt's defense and Letteiri was already coming onto the ice. This seems logical as I can't imagine he would be dumb enough to leave the bench for the sole purpose of fighting knowing the consequences. Redneksioux
My take on the situation....a lot of classless hockey players. Except for rumpel. Gotta give him credit for sticking up for his guy when he's being tag teamed my some classless gophers.

If UND players acted the same way you would be praising them for sticking up for a teammate but of course when it's the Gophers they're classless. And that 2-1 scrum you guys keep mentioning is much about nothing. That happens every time there is a scrum of this size, every damn time. Players just start grabbing people and sometimes you'll see a 2-1 for a few seconds. The 2 Gopher players didn't plan it and the 3 Badger guys didn't plan the 3-1 scrum either. It just happens. Mariucci
And if it was UND, you'd be calling them classless. It goes both ways. No I wouldn't. I have no problem with players sticking up for a teammate. There was only one classless move in this case and that was the hit to Bristedt's head. The Sicatoka
No I wouldn't. I have no problem with players sticking up for a teammate. There was only one classless move in this case and that was the hit to Bristedt's head. One classless move triggered the second: - The head shot was classless and deserved to be resolved - The flying cross check, instead of a man-up "Let's go", challenge is the second.* * The video I saw talked up Reilly for "defending his teammate" and how the NHLers will notice and love that. What I saw was a boy's approach to a man's problem, and the NHLers will notice, but won't love, that. Reilly should've skated up, popped his bucket off, dropped his gloves, and asked Wittchow to step up and step in. A flying cross check shows you weren't in control of your emotions and the situation; stepping up shows who's in charge. And honestly, at that point, I expect Wittchow, knowing he'd done wrong, wouldn't have stepped in and Reilly would've looked all the better. Frozen4sioux
ooh...cool story bro.Of course I'm not. What would UND fans know about class? Maybe hop back on your moped and sputter back under your bridge.
The Sicatoka
You keep seeing what you want to see. Here's a link: http://www.uscho.com/2015/01/19/big-ten-announces-suspensions-to-wisconsins-wittchow-minnesotas-lettieri/ Please, explain to me how what Reilly does from 1:00 to 1:02 is not classless. That is a flying cross check (nearly a blind side) that hit very high*. *Was that intended for the shoulder it hit ... or higher.
SiouxFanatic
You keep seeing what you want to see. You do realize how big of a hypocrite you are being, right? Right? You are doing the exact same thing. If you won't even own up to that, you are just another deluded Gopher fan who acts like there is a halo above each Gopher players head. Frozen4sioux
It's amazingly pathetic that some goof troll has the idiocy to be here talking smack....you might think the ilk of his kind would be over on GPL worried about the HIGH possibility of getting swept out of their own tourney, (and out of the NCAAs) this weekend. UND1983
You keep seeing what you want to see. Like when Skjei comes flying in full speed and blind sides a Badger player who was already tied up with a Gopher. What's legit about that? Goon
It's the Gofer Way... Yep, start something and then hide behind the refs and beg him to save you. At the same time, that player is running his mouth. I call it Pansy hockey.
The Sicatoka
That's what I call third man in. It's a game misconduct in the NHL. From that POV, Red 3, 8, 9, 21, and 33 should be tossed as well as White 2, 6, 15, 18, and 19*. Honestly, everyone on the ice except Red 20, White 5, White goalie, and the stripes, should've been hit with third man. *There's the guy who should get nailed for third man and off the bench.
