Hayduke Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Good job, Bismarck! Congrats to Minot on 3rd place too. I hope this is a sign that hockey from western Nodak can compete year in and out. Quote
gfhockey Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 if it was up to mei would hab never made a change at gfc but the guys with money in the chosen city dictate everythong Quote
Wilbur Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Congrats to coach Peluso. In his fourth state championship game, finally gets the win. Quote

geaux_sioux Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 I thought central was the better team. Bismark out worked them tonight and earned it. I wish central had played as hard and aggressive as Bismarck but they did not. Quote
Wilbur Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Was it David Spivey in title game? http://www.linkedin..../891?_mSplash=1 Matt Spivey. Thought they were from Fargo. My bad. Quote
choyt3 Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 diff spivey bud red beard That's why I asked the question, 'bud'. I believe Matt Spivey is also a Grand Forks native. Quote
Wilbur Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 I thought it was a pretty well officiated game until the end. Let them play up until the last 7 minutes of the game. Can't believe they called that hook on Bismarck, and then the tripping on Central in Bismarck's end with 16 seconds left. They need to have the ice crew put the plastic net moorings in for the tournament instead of the metal pegs. The net came off far too many times. Not only this game, but in a lot of the games that I watched. I'm a former goalie.....you bet your @ss we know what we're doing when the net continually gets knocked off in a game. Quote

MafiaMan Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 I thought your W-2 said you had all the money?? Not when compared to Sandelin's! Sorry...sorry...enjoy your July fishing trip. Quote

I wish central had played as hard and aggressive as Bismarck but they did not. Bismarck is the better team. Even if they played a best of five or a best of seven, BHS would win. Simply put, they're a deeper, better team. 1 Quote
Oxbow6 Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Only in Seinfeld's bizarro world...BHS wins 1st state title, USA men doesn't medal and UND men on a second half surge! Oh wait...............skip those last 2 examples. Quote

geaux_sioux Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 So that makes three different teams from three different cities that have won the last three state tournaments. I think that is probably a sign of things to come. The era of any one school or any one city having a monopoly on state championships, if it isn't already over, is thankfully coming to an end. Nope Quote
MafiaMan Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Nope I agree, geaux_sioux - two out of three years of non-GF teams winning state hockey titles does not a precedent set. Quote

A word floating about on another thread is "parity". Seems to me like North Dakota is achieving this, years ago it seemed only the eastern part of the state was involved in hockey. The rest of the state is getting into it and joining the party. We just made it look so good they could not resist! Quote
siouxweet Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 is the east or west dominating the youth hockey levels like pee wee and bantams? Quote
UNDBIZ Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 is the east or west dominating the youth hockey levels like pee wee and bantams? I wouldn't say dominating, but from the couple tourneys I've seen my little cousin in, West Fargo and Minot have been quite good. Quote
