NORTH DAKOTA vs. Miami

School me on redshirting? I thought his being in uniform and available to play, as well as being rostered (he's listed as a scratch on road games, for instance), that he already couldn't be a redshirt, but I do not claim to know that rule.

My understanding is as long as he doesn't appear in any game action, he doesn't burn a year of eligibility regardless of traveling/dressing/etc. And not saying that he will be a star in 5 years, but finding someone willing to properly fill that 3rd goalie role can be tough at times. Not sure what the staff's plan for him is at this point, but if Zane is close to coming back, I can't see the purpose of burning a year of eligibility for 10 minutes in a game that was out of reach.

I think it is comparable to football where certain red-shirted players dress for games, but as long as they don't play, it doens't count against them. Two years ago in football, UND was one QB injury away from having to burn a red-shirt, with the player on the sidelines ready to go if necessary, but it never happened and the player retained his redshirt status.

Simple explanation, http://www.blog.coll...-participation/.

The term “redshirt” is used to describe a student-athlete who does not participate in competition in a sport for an entire academic year. If you do not compete in a sport the entire academic year, you have not used a season of competition. For example, if you are a qualifier, and you attend a four-year college your freshman year, and you practice but do not compete against outside competition, you would still have the next four years to play four seasons of competition.

Each student is allowed no more than four seasons of competition per sport. If you were not a qualifier, you may have fewer seasons of competition available to you. You should know that NCAA rules indicate that any competition, regardless of time, during a season counts as one of your seasons of competition in that sport. It does not matter how long you were involved in a particular competition (for example, one play in a football game, one point in a volleyball match); you will be charged with one season of competition. Schloss not seeing rainbows and dewy meadows, like I did as well, this weekend vs last. He is calling for a split. Against the last place team in the NCHC at home a split shouldn't happen but with UND's PP, bipolar goaltendering, lack of consistent scoring and effort I don't see a sweep either.

Cue the breakdown from the brilliant mind that is Dave...............

So the tradiational circle of sticks is a tradition similar to flowers, chocolates and using one's year supply of Cialis...which in my case equates to one pill...on a day like today?:sad::lol:

I think that dog of a performance last Saturday came at the right time. The way Miami struggled, I've said for weeks that they'd find a way to right the ship when they come to the Ralph. Now I would hope we'll see two desperate teams out there.

Do the Sioux right the ship and put together solid back to back performances? Or does Miami finally find their groove? Losing to Miami would have to really put a hurt in the Sioux's Pairwise rankings, as low as they are ranked. A huge 6 points on the line this weekend, time to put on the big boy breezers. :)

My bad on the spelling.

Actually my night will consist of taking 3 teenage girls, one is my daughter, to the game tonight. Not a bad way to spend Valentine's Day night.

Well, you brought "up" the Cialis thing...just remember...if the wife is still awake when you get home and it lasts for four hours, call your doctor. Or your neighbor's wife. Or the hot single 20something across the street that just broke up with her boyfriend. Or the...
