In NO way am I a Bison fan, but calling an FCS title a JV football title is really stupid. UND is in the same boat as they are, and we should be happy to play in a division (subdivision) that allows a playoff game and a true winner. No way will we or NDSU, or even Miami, OH be crowned National Champs in the FBS world. Hayduke Posted January 20, 2014 Share Posted January 20, 2014 At the end of the day a very veteran NDSU team played a pretty avg big 12 team that had almost completely replaced their offense and defense. It was almost a best case scenario for the bison. Also the bison still had to win on a last second drive. K state won their bowl game but overall this year it was a down year. Most of you have to remember that k states schedule and the gophers schedule is so much harder than the bisons (obviously). The bison had one reasonably hard game all year (kstate). Kstate and the gophs have somewhat hard games (sorry SEC fan here) every game except the cupcake fcs games. What I'm trying to say is that if NDSU had to play a big ten schedule they may have had 1....maybe two big ten wins against the cellar teams. That was an impressive win by the AC. But, you're right. K-State was replacing a multitude of players on offense,while the AC was rolling in their in-tact FCS championship team from the prior year. K-State would have won later in the year. Also, for those inthe sewing circle at the College of Home Economics at the University of Agriculture and Applied Science, while ESPN2 was showing the FCS championship on the soccer field, a "mediocre" FBS bowl game was being shown on ESPN. Teams in the CHL equals those that play against the Fargo Force in the USHL. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Junior_ice_hockey#Tier_I In Canada, the highest level is major junior, and is governed by the Canadian Hockey League, which itself has three constituent leagues: the Ontario Hockey League, Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and the Western Hockey League. Get what you are saying but they had a better season than the year before and ended up in the same bowl game. They should have probably been playing in the Gator Bowl against Georgia but got passed over for a Nebraska team that they had beat. There had to be a level of disappointment and letdown there and if you watched the game you could see right from the start the team looked very flat. He ripped his fans, calling them fair weather after 270+ straight sellouts, what coach does that? NU hasn't seen a NC game for a long time and it's getting old. They lost to the Gophers, they almost lost to Wyoming...WYOMING!!!! The old NU program would have put up 70 on Minny and Wyoming. This team is a joke with the joker as the leader. NCAA produces 30% (at least that's what they said in their own commercial that aired during the world juniors) and the CHL produces well over 40%. There's never been a UND player that has gone on to play in the NFL. and there's never been an FCS player that's gone on to play in the NFL. It is one of the most respected programs in all the country and is continuously praised by professional hockey minds year in and year out. The CHL is a larger league (QMJHL, WHL, OHL), so it isn't surprising that the numbers support more NHL players coming from that league, hockey is also Canada's top sport so is it really a suprise that they produce the most NHL players. We don't have to stroke our hockey ego because experts worldwide already do it for us. And how many FCS players are chosen in the first round of the NFL draft? Last year approximately 60 players played in the NHL that were chosen in the 1st round of the NHL draft and played college hockey. Another 39 were chosen in the 2nd round. NAIA football players end up in the NFL also. Does that make NAIA football equal to FCS in your eyes? Your comparing apples to pineapples, the comparison makes no sense. What does a CANADIAN, PROFESSIONAL, level of a sport have to do with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, COLLEGE, sports? THAT is your attempt at a comeback to the well known fact that FBS is a higher level of UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, COLLEGE, football? LOL LOL. Where does hockey fall in the big scheme of things in the U.S.A.? From a fan interest standpoint it's behind football, baseball, basketball, golf and NASCAR on the national scene, and I don't think there's really an argument otherwise. You might have an argument worldwide, but we all know where that gets us for the sport of soccer, correct? Our UND hockey program is second to none, but lets be honest here. We play at the same level as the cow college for every sport, my friends. If we were winning FCS Football titles, I think attitudes would be different here. Once we chase down the 4-H exhibit at FU, we will once again dominate them in all sports, which is the way we are all used to. It will happen too, mark it down. If UND football can get on the national stage, which would require both an FBS upset and a FCS national championship, it would likely surpass hockey as the most popular UND sport.
