geaux_sioux Posted September 16, 2012 Author Posted September 16, 2012 "Can't waste valuable practice time"?? Did u watch the last 2 games? Tackling without question was the main reason we lost last night and was the reason we almost lost vs PSU. If it's not fixed it'll cost us at a minimum 2 more games. Schemes and coverages won't produce jack if we don't bring someone's a88 to the ground once in awhile. Did you play college football? Quote
geaux_sioux Posted September 16, 2012 Author Posted September 16, 2012 First half highlights... North Dakota @ SDSU - YouTube Escobar appeared to be out of bounds on his TD catch. Looking at that 'TD' to the TE his foot was out and the refs missed it in the review. Can't leave it to the reffs....... Quote
Oxbow6 Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 Did you play college football? And this has to do with what? Doesn't take someone who played college football to understand a fundamental skill for any defensive FB player is tackling. I assume u played in college? U then should have a clue that if this D plays and tackles like it has last 2 weeks it's going be a wasted season...period. And u don't think the poor tackling issue needs or should be addressed in practice? Quote

Point is that anyone who played at a high level understands that the time is spent on the mental side of the game in practice. Not going live, not doing tackling drills, working on scheme. UND recruits players who know how to tackle. These players who are playing D this year had no problem tackling last year, God knows why they can't seem to do it this year. Quote

Maybe the lack of practice tackling fundamentals is the cause for their lack of tackling?? If the coaches are not continually spending a little time on fundamentals that's a major coaching flaw, even the NFL does tackling and blocking drills Quote

Actually, they got the call right. Yes, his left foot and knee came down out of bounds, but his right foot had already touched down after he caught the ball, prior to his left foot going out of bounds. In college, you only need one foot in. Quote

FSSD Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 I thought that it was no catch. It did not look like he had control of the ball until his left knee touched. Just a quick note to all Bison fans posting during football games. Please keep the game thread about the game. Quote
82SiouxGuy Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Oooohhh reeeaaaalllllyyyy??? Thanks for that. Now watch the clip without your green and piss goggles on. I watched it several times. It is almost impossible to see for sure because of the distance on all of the angles. But it does look like he could have gotten the toes of the right foot to touch down before the left leg lands out of bounds and the right foot comes back down. What makes it even harder to say for sure is you can't see exactly when he had possession, was it before he touched the right foot down or after. As long as the touchdown call was made on the field, there isn't enough in the replays to overturn. And it might be the right call anyway if that right foot touched the ground. Quote

To me it looked like he didn't real it in completely until his left foot touched down out of bounds. Either way, you can't blame the officials for the pick 6 or the running into the punter or the missed tackles. 1 Quote
siouxfb Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Are you guys able to watch a replay of the game somewhere online? Quote
aztecfan Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 SDSU guy here. What a nailbiter. Hendrickson and Hardin are as good a combo as anyone in FBS, both will be playing pro. Great job and Great game, UND. You should be kicking plenty of football butt this season. 1 Quote

geaux_sioux Posted September 17, 2012 Author Posted September 17, 2012 That would be awesome if Marcus is able to make enough of an impression to get a look at the NFL. Hanson will get a look so that could be two in one year which would be unheard of. Quote

KBH2010 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 If the defense can remember to tackle, we will be just fine. Quote

GeauxSioux Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 The first half highlights shows that angle along with a few others. I still don't think he came down in bounds with the ball, but it really doesn't matter at this point. Mooove on. Quote

Great job and Great game, UND. You should be kicking plenty of football butt this season. Many thanks for acknowledging UND's outstanding offensive performance in our game. I'm certain the heat played a role in the wearing down on both teams' defensive performances in the game. Best of luck the rest of the way. Hope SDSU makes it to a top-notch bowl game. Quote
