F'n Hawks Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago The initial excitement will be there. If this ends up happening I see attendance in the Dome will be increase for the first two years. The question is what happens after that. They obviously got bored of winning all the time in the FCS, will they get bored once they are 4 to 5 years into the MW? 1 1 Quote

For the millionth time, moving from FCS to FBS is not even in the same universe as moving from D2 to FCS. That cannot possibly be disputed. The gap between FCS and FBS is huge and will continue to grow exponentially. Someone posted the FB budgets of MWC schools and NDSU's current budget is way behind even the smallest MWC budget. And the gap between the MWC and the P4 schools is even bigger. I don't give a damn about NDUS funding formulas or oil money or what Teamakers is raising, the stratospheric gaps I laid out above are not going to be closed by a land grant school in flyover country. I don't know what else I have to say to convince people that this is not even remotely close to what happened 20+ years ago. If the P4 and G6 do formally split and the G6 have their own tournament, then a move up may be worth exploring for all the Dakota schools and maybe even the Montana schools. But under the current alignment, being a G6 school is a one way ticket to permanent obscurity. 1 2 Quote

homer Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago No one scheduled them non conference when they were FCS, why will those teams schedule them when they are FBS and it costs more money? I guess I don’t see the logic there but could be wrong. I say kick them out of the Summit and figure out how to add another team. Zero chance the MWC adds them for all sports or they can afford to fly their Olympic sports around the conference. 1 Quote

siouxweet Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago This current environment isn't changing anytime soon and the FCS is going to get more watered down. Winning an FCS championship will be the equivalent of getting a participation ribbon in youth sports. Quote

Since they weren't and some teams still have 8 MVFC games set, I doubt they would do that this late in the game. UND will have to make up that $900K or so in ticket revenue some how. Going from 10,000 (12K - 2K students) at $100/ticket to 8,000 at $12/ticket to see Valpo will be quite a hit to the budget. Quote

Losing NDSU off the schedule certainly would hurt but I’d probably worry more about your own scheduling issues Quote

I have heard it is private donations from alumni and big $$$ people in western ND. Wentz has made $133 million, Lance $36 million, Turner $34 million, Watson $15 with another $20 million in the next two years (plus huge extension coming possibly this offseason), Zabel has nearly $20 million guaranteed and very likely will be one of the highest paid OL soon. plus a 5-10 other current players in the NFL, Not saying they are financing any of this but saying they couldn't fund a small fraction is ridiculous.
