First time I’ve seen the order flipped but she seems pretty sure Emery will go to Toronto unless he is already off the board. Trying to outscore teams outside of the regular season obviously hasn't worked for them. Maybe they realize that they need some shutdown defense as well as a buy in to the postseason style of play. Kevin G
Emery still on the board. We'll see if he gets past Toronto at #23.
tnt
Funny how things work out. When Eiserman was committed to the gophers he was a top 3 projection, now he has fallen below Boisvert.

I remember everyone talking about both Celebrini and Eiserman being both Top 3 selections. Hopefully Chicago let’s Boisvert develop at UND for 2-3 years.

Glad he's not going to Montreal. One of the worst markets to be a local kid.

As a Rangers fan, I'm so pumped. After getting whooped by Florida and their shut down d play, I think the brass saw first hand that they need to get steadier on the blue line and also get younger. Now, they can trade Trouba and give Emery a few years to develop. A few... like three... so we can win a natty or two.. or three lol So happy all around. Great day for UND and for me personally as a Rangers fan.
Kevin G
What a great night for UND hockey. Two first-round draft picks in the same draft. When's the last time that happened? 1

When they traded that far back, I thought he was a cinch for them. Very happy he got snagged by the Rangers just a pick before them. They picked a D the next pick, too. That was part of the problem with the Avs rushing Jost if I'm recalling correctly.

Tight, which is why I think getting Emery was spot on. Rangers need to get younger and cheaper. I think they'll trade Trouba and his massive contract and bring EJ along in two, maybe 3 years. Currently he’s seen as a defensive specialist and probably the best rush defender in this draft class. So he could step into a bottom-pairing role fairly soon. But if he can show any sign of offensive ability in his freshman season at UND, I wonder if the Rangers would have him stay in college an extra year or two to allow that side of his game to develop. Emery is raw but so athletic that it wouldn’t shock me if he turns into more than a defense-only defenseman.
Kevin G
Both Boisvert and Emery were interviewed last night at the draft, and they both came across as humble, determined, and ready to work. Their attitude will make them easy to cheer for.
