scpa0305 Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Simonson was in Fargo last Sat and Sunday against the Force. He opened his team's scoring both nights, but honestly I didn't notice him a lot during the middle of games. Cheering for the opposition can certainly do that for you, though. Plus, I watched most of Saturday's game from the glass at one end of the ice, which, while exciting, makes it tougher to pick out the little things that a player is doing. I saw him this year....he actually has a decent offensive game and good shot. 38 pts in 43 games is not too shabby considering he has no one to play with. Quote
jjensen Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Tucker Poolman was a USHL mid-season First team all-west player and Nick Schmaltz was on the east's second team. Quote

MissSioux85 Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Article on recruit Hayden Shaw http://www.woodburyb...ing-hayden-shaw On a related note: of the 18 players currently committed to UND, only 2 are Canadian (Gardner and Chartrand). Are we seeing a gradual shift in Hakstol's recruiting strategy? Quote

Are we seeing a gradual shift in Hakstol's recruiting strategy? They mention that Oshie is a USHL alum that plays in the NHL. I vaguely remember him playing briefly in the league after his senior year was over....is that how it happened or am I missing a year? Quote
Blackheart Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 That's how it happened...he played 11 games for Sioux Falls before coming to UND the following season. - Courtesy of hockeydb.com Quote

Are we seeing a gradual shift in Hakstol's recruiting strategy? wow, i hadn't looked at the recruits in that manner. It could be a strategy or just that US players right now have the same or better talent than those playing in the BCHL or AJHL right now. probably just cyclical. Quote

SiouxScore Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Zach Yon with 3 goals and an assist in a 7-4 win over Moorhead for the section 8AA Championship and a ticket to the Minnesota State Tournament. Linemate Alex Strand had 2 goals and 2 assists and is one the leading scorers in the state and should generate some recruiting interest but may have to play some juniors before an offer from someone comes.
