Popular Post brianvf Posted 11 hours ago Popular Post Posted 11 hours ago Let's go! Get traffic in front of Lundgren and score early/often. UConn was really taking it to Merrimack in the HEA Final...need to do the same and get some past their stellar goalie. I think QU gets past Prov, so hopefully UND can get that 2016 title rematch and take down Wyttenbach and Co. 3 2 Quote
Level B Fishbowl Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago I could see Providence winning that game. Q has had some defensive disasters this year and has the weakest goaltending out of all the teams in this regional. Also, Leaman is a very good coach I would expect his team to play a very solid, disciplined, and trap-heavy game Quote

He's been glossed over a bit out of the CHL superstars going NCAA. Quote

brianvf Posted 10 hours ago Author Posted 10 hours ago https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/und-to-play-merrimack-in-sioux-falls-regional-1 Quote Jason Ross and Kevin Weekes will call the Sioux Falls Regional on ESPN. Quote Merrimack goaltender Max Lundgren stopped 49 of 50 in the final against UConn and was named the tournament MVP. Lundgren stopped 107 of 110 shots (.973 save percentage) in the Hockey East quarterfinals, semifinals and championship. Quote UND and Merrimack have only played two games in program history — an October 2009 series in Ralph Engelstad Arena. UND won 5-2 and 3-2. The matchup will pit two players against their former teams. UND forward Tyler Young transferred from Merrimack to UND this summer. Young spent three seasons at Merrimack. Merrimack forward Michael Emerson spent a semester at UND in the fall of 2023. He left school to return to junior hockey, then committed to Merrimack. Emerson played six games for the Fighting Hawks. 1 2 Quote

Likely knows the highly touted draft picks, but not so good on the depth. Fortunately, I'll be in attendance, so I won't get to hear his commentary. Quote
jk Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Rust versus momentum, the Thursday night story. I know some want to use the TV timeouts to lean on the top of the lineup, but I'd be happy enough if they just rolled the four lines. Each one is capable of scoring on any shift. Unless UND trails in the third. Then you need a heavy dose of Zellers et al. Puncture the aura of the hot goalie early and go from there. 1 Quote
Wilbur Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago The Warriors are a gritty group. Super bought into the cause of defensive hockey and scoring on limited opportunities. They won their championship much like Northeastern did. Time to win ours. Quote
AlphaMikeFoxtrot Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Young has much more to share than Emerson in terms of scouting. Former hot commodity and WI commit Nick Pierre doing well for himself at Merrimack, always good to see. Quote
SIOUXFAN97 Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago what time on sat if we win? channel? bc espn has tbd on everythng Quote

Clark17 Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago ideally Bently shocks Mich. and then the building collapses on UMD v Penn. or they get COVID - but that one should be a good one - COVID is better than the roof falling in I guess WMU v Mankato is the first round game of the day - I like both teams DU v Cornell? don't care too much but would happy to see DU out Mich. State v UCONN - probably a good one to nap to Dartmouth v Wis. - probably take another nap Prov v Quin - don't care much as long as we are playing Sat. against either Quote
fightingsioux4life Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Whatever happens, I just want to see an energetic and hungry team on Thursday. Not a tired, sluggish team that can't get pucks to the net. Just compete at a high level and I think we'll do just fine. 1 Quote

I’m guessing they will announce game times after the 1st round game. Probably waiting to see what the matchups are to determine who they want to show in prime time 1 Quote
