UND Football Fan Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Looked at fan base comments of WSU on Freund after 10-7 loss to Oregon State. Similar gripes as ours. Pass 3rd and 10, three yard pass plays and running the ball well and suddenly throwing the ball. Quote
Popular Post Sioux04 Posted 4 hours ago Popular Post Posted 4 hours ago The OC's play calling was an absolute embarrassment and has massively regressed from the start of the season. He needs to go. What the hell has happened to our tight ends? Do intermediate routes exist anymore? Do we have any other run plays in the arsenal, or only WR in motion and then up the gut? This is just the smell test from me, so maybe this isn't actually the case. But yesterday it seemed UND had about five different plays. It was a JV brand of football. 2 3 Quote

wheelsup Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago After watching Quincy dominate every short yardage situation for the last 3 years.. I’m baffled by UND not implementing a similar set this year. If we have the QV short yardage plays.. we punch in a touchdown and easily make the 4th and 1. Also.. FG unit.. woof.. not sure if it was the kicker or the holder but good lord.. should have been a win yesterday.. no question.. d is the real deal 2 Quote
UND Football Fan Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Compared to two years ago, NDSU’s defense is way better in size and speed. Inside zone scheme struggle because, from what I saw there edge guy would get off blocks and limit yards gained and interior lineman are tough to move. NDSU’s offense struggled in my opinion because our defense is fundamentally improved in scheme and tackling. But also how, especially 2nd half was able to have longer drives (aided by penalty at times) to keep them out of rhythm. Lastley it’s tough to stop a championship team when the game on the line. NDSU has that swag. Hopefully, UND gets there sooner, last year and past I doubted. This year we are damn close, ideally this years team can get there. Bring in a few more explosive players (fitting in the JYD mentality) in the portal …. and a competent FG kicker….this group can get there. I saw the transformation in the 90’s of UND football, I am thinking this group we have can have that same impact. 4 Quote
Sioux90 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Schmidt has totally evolved this defense. The pursuit level, and overall attitude is night and day. I’m proud of that fact. The future looks bright. Now we just need to make the playoffs….. 3 Quote
Longtime fan Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago UNDs defense has been lights out this year! Haven’t given up 20 points in a single game in the Mvfc and only two all year…..Montana and K st. A ton of seniors on that side. Major upgrade from the last 10 years Offense has had small moments vs the decent defensive teams but the play calling is atrocious. Even when they beat up on the junk teams there were a lot of head scratching calls. Add to that….Jerry and the offense have been brutal in final drive moments. Everyone holds their breathe with anything special teams They are 6-4 with a shot at 8-4. At 8-4 they are in the playoffs. Lose to sdsu ….no playoffs imo at 7-5. Dependent on how other teams finish the last weeks of course. Seeding is long gone … as is a first round bye. If this years Ndsu team is the pinnacle team it just shows how weak the fcs is and yet und is 6-4 😡😡 I could give a rats ass how close und has come to winning the four losses and being undefeated. They didn’t win and are 6-4. Why would this change if they are to make the playoffs ? What would they do differently to win the close games vs “better “ competition? Because they have failed in four games so far this year. That will change if they were to make the playoffs ?? Highly highly unlikely The trajectory of the program is on the upside. With a few coaching changes maybe next year they can take the next step Quote
wheelsup Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I want to make the playoffs if we are 7-5 or 8-4.. schmitfy is building something special. One of the reasons ndsu is better is they get 3+ more games a year and all of the incremental practices.. U.N.D. needs that. 2 Quote

Goon Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Just for the record, Qunicy is still scoring short-yardage touchdowns in the CFL. Quote
UND69er Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago The decision to go for it on 4th down inside the 2 is changing among coaches. The almost certain FG vs pinning the opponent deep is becoming popular. Stats show pinning the opponent is the better option. Of course it's a situational and in game decision, but if your D is playing well it can be game changing. With horse crap FG kickers the decision is straight forward. Now play selection by an idiot OC is another issue. 1 Quote

Siouxperman8 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago SU fans can say all they want about this game being UND's Superbowl but it was extremely important to the Bisons as well. I've never seen a coaching staff react to penalties and beg for calls they way the SU staff did. Lots of hystreonics from both the HC and his assistants. I can't believe the HC didn't get 15 yards for screaming, swinging his head set toward the LJ, and jumping up and down wanting a facemask. Unless they are just that much of a PIA all the time. 1 Quote
fightingsioux4life Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Fruechte needs to embrace the K.I.S.S. principle on offense. If the running game is working, stick with it. No trick plays when you don't need them. Don't put your QB in difficult situations where he has to do everything himself. We might have at least 2 more victories this season if Fruechte had taken that approach. 2 Quote

The Moving Company could not squeeze a few inches at the goal line on the firt 2 times they had the ball. The same is true when the game was on the line and the OL could not get one dang yard. Need to do better. If they had there would be no talk of canning coaches. how far was ss's td run earlier on? did he pretty much go in untouched? Quote
SIOUXFAN97 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago 2 hours ago, Roger S. said: Ya, I agree. After being really critical on the play calls in the most crucial moments that didn’t succeed. Isaac apparently saw things that should work in those pass plays from the 2 and the shotgun with 1 yard to go gave some wiggle room to make the play and we did execute that before that with 1 yard to go. just needed to execute those plays. When we develop a reliable, dynamic passing offense this team will be great 2 1 Quote
